  1. Wow - I'm so sorry. That's just terrible, but I can feel for you. While I never had any BMs to begin with, I was really counting on my BFF from high school and my sister being at my wedding. Now, neither of them can make it (for good reasons) but my big brother can't make it either.

Long story short, I basically feel that I am having a circus of a wedding with a bunch of "spares" coming to Mexico with us. My fiance has his parents from his side - that's it! I have my parents and little bro. Everyone else is a friend or a "spare."

But you're right - it's about you and your FI! And I hope I can get to that point of thinking because right now I feel like I'm paying for a circus.

I really do hope you have a great wedding. Congratulations to you & your FI! I bet it will be beautiful and fun, no matter who is there with you!

Yes, included WD and Sunday brunch info. Including a ton of info really, as a lot of my guests have never been to PV, let alone out of the country. I'll try to upload my letter that I will send out to my guests in advance.

    OMG - it worked : )

Also, I know about the Ocean Front rooms but they're the same size as the regular Garden and Ocean View rooms, just Ocean Front. So I don't know how that would count as a "suite" KWIM?

I forget - are you going with the Jr. Suite? Have you been in the Ocean Front ones? We're really debating between the two... if we stay in the Ocean front we could save about the amount of one roundtrip plane ticket or one extra honeymoon night in Jamaica... but the extra square footage in the Jr. Suite does sound nice! (I think it's a 300+ sq. foot difference, 400-something to 700-something)
I guess I thought they had some oceanfront suites, because I've walked past them on the way to the elevator and some of the rooms have double doors, and I peeked into the living room of one because they were working on the corner suite and the door was open - hee hee.

We're going with the Jr. Suite - we worked the upgrade into our deal. Wish it were oceanfront, but I guess I'll take the oceanview with the pool : )

My FI is the same way. He already has a Rolex. Hardly dresses up. Has everything a man needs. So what's a girl to do? I actually intend to buy this from the Sundance Catalog: Sundance
It's an Eternal Love Token, about the size of a coin, which he can carry with him every day. I plan to have it in a card to be given to him the day of our wedding. Sundance has a couple different versions.

Other than that, I'm at a loss for ideas, too.

Btw, has anyone formulated a brochure/Microsoft Word handout (information sheet, etc.) to send to their guests? I've spent so much time uploading all the info to our website but we've only had 14 hits so far and sent out 74 STDs. I'm thinking some of our invited guests might not be internet savvy. Anyways, I'm having a tough time fitting this all into a Word document and figuring out exactly how to go about this. Mainly I just want to put the Hotel Info, TA info and ask them to RSVP either on our website or by contacting us (email or phone). I think my brain is just scrambled right now. So anyways, if anyone has something like this that they'd like to share please PM me - it would be greatly appreciated!! wink.gif

P.S. Happy birthday to your daughter, Christina! wink.gif
Awww - thank you! So sweet.

Yes, I do believe there are different suites - Jr. and Oceanfront - I could be wrong and am guessing. From looking at the view that was posted <sigh> from a Jr. Suite, it looked like it was taken from the main building (i.e., same as the lobby, etc.). Where as there are Oceanfront suites in the other building which is to the right of the pool. (Not sure I'm explaining this properly.)

You may have seen these already, but here's another site I found online for the Marriott: Puerto Vallarta Vacations - Marriott Hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

It also includes a link that you could print out for your guests: Hotels in Puerto Vallarta - CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort
and if you scroll all the way down, you'll see a link to a .pdf that has PV Destination Information. I'll be incorporating some of the info from this into my packets that I will be sending to my guests that will be coming to PV. It's a document that I downloaded from BDW but have updated, of course, with additional information regarding my wedding. In addition, I'll be sending maps, spa menu, Vallarta Adventures brochures, etc. Just enough info to get everyone excited and plan their trips to the max!

I've just shot off an email to the wedding coordinator at the Marriott to find out how many jr. suites they have at the hotel. I definitely know there are connecting rooms to them, as my daughter will be staying in one next to my. Today is her 15th birthday!!! (just had to share that - proud mama that I am)

I'll let you know what I find out.

    ** UPDATE **
There are 11 jr. suites available at the Marriott.
  7. So bummed I couldn't have made it out. Hearing about all the fun places in the 'hood just makes me want to go drink!

I had a good excuse - my bridal shower at Brookhaven Country Club. It was a smashing success and so much fun with the ladies. It was an afternoon tea so most of the ladies wore big hats.

Wish I could post pictures from my shower, but I'm still the slowest learner on here and don't know how to do it.

Great time for the Dallas brides! Still jealous...

Not a pain at all. It's only about a 10 minute cab ride into the city - about $6 USD and there are cabs lined up out in front of the hotel so there's never a wait. It's really quite convenient and a good hotel. Perhaps you've read in other posts about the Marriott, but they're under renovations right now and will be completed at the end of October '08.

Of course, this is where my wedding guests will stay. I've stayed there several times before and love it. Worked with one of the coordinators for a group room rate - no problems there either. Great staff, great location, great amenities.
  9. El Arrayan is delicious. We went there in April after seeing in several places that it was voted Best in PV. The black bean empanadas were divine. It's an enclosed restaurant, however, it has open-air section in the middle where the tree grows (which is the origination of the restaurant's name). There are also covered seating sections, however, I do not think they had A/C. We both loved it there! Just a couple blocks off the malecon.

Something else to check out is La Palapa: Puerto Vallarta Fine Dining Restaurant - La Palapa

Haven't eaten there but have heard wonderful things - we booked the Romantic Dinner on the beach for our final night in PV after the wedding.

Our WD is at Barcelona Tapas. Been there two or three times - great food - great atmosphere! Can't say enough good things about the place.

Thank you! I never would have even considered brown, but after I saw this dress, it just made sense since I'm wearing ivory, my fiance and his dad are wearing ivory shirts with khaki pants. It'll be a great color to go with our ivory and gold theme.

It's super cute on her and we found a sweet pair of brown jeweled flip-flops to go with it, too.
  11. Have been super busy at work and with wedding stuff! Went to Ann Taylor on Friday night searching for a dress for my daughter - their Celebration dresses are on sale online and in the store. This is the one we got her in Espresso: ANN TAYLOR ONLINE STORE: Kate Crossdye Dupioni Dress

Looked great for the bridal portraits photo shoot we had on Saturday.

We've also booked a honeymoon after spending the week in PV for the wedding - we're going to Puerto Rico for 5 days, 4 nights! So excited.

There's just so much to do right now my head is spinning.

Stunning dress! On another note, what about your veil? I actually hadn't even considered a veil, but yours was the perfect length, simple yet elegant and didn't seem to get in the way and was the perfect accessory.

Any info would be helpful (length, color, brand, etc.) now that I've seen yours, I may consider getting one of the same - unless you're selling that, too(huh.gif?). Thank you!
  13. If you're set on July, you should do it. Just have a plan that incorporates rain (ceremony tent, indoor reception, etc.). I haven't been to PV in July, but was there last September, which is still considered the rainy season and it rained mostly in the evenings. But if you're like me, I love the rain no matter what.

However, I will say this, I am a Las Caletas bride and LC doesn't have anything planned until the first week of October. And both of the wedding planners take their time off during the slow rainy season. According to their calendar, they haven't had a wedding since July 3: Adventure Weddings in Puerto Vallarta - Wedding Calendar
