  1. So yesterday FI and I took a drive aorund NYC, and came across this great Mexican Folk Art store. It's called "La Sirena". I thought this would be of interest to other Mexico Brides from around the area. Especially if your not able to do a site visit before your wedding, like myself. The store is VERY small but with lots of wonderful things from Mexico. We're thinking of buying a couple of things from her for our own wedding and hopefully they carry nice maracas that we can use as favors. If she asks, just mention John & Linda, Thanks wink.gif

    Here's her information:

    Name: Dina Leor

Website: Welcome to La Sirena Mexican Folk Art

    E-mail address: [email protected],

    Phone Number: (212)-780-9113.

    Address: 27 East 3rd Street

So I am starting to really stress about money.

We were doing a private reception, but I am now thinking of having the dinner with my free 40 person dinner and having a get together after - as this I believe will lower the cost/guest.

    OR

I could do a cocktail with appies get together following the wedding, THEN the free dinner for 40 at El Coctal....

My question - does anyone have the info on the dessert buffet option? Im my 30 + page package, I do not have any info on this option.
Does it come with the 2 hour international bar deal?

What are your thoughts on what to do to save money?

All this said, we are getting close to 40 guests, and if we have more, I dont think the free dinner is an option anymore so I might be screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HELP PLEASE!

Oh boy...Money $$$$ Matters can really stress you out alright. I'm kind of in the same boat. I won't know for sure until our RSVP's come in SEP, 08. but we're actually hoping not to pass our 25 guest limit. We'll see...Good luck with yours too. I know what it's like. FI knows nothing of all the crap I've purchased online so far either. We're way off our budget. And I thought a destination wedding would be cheaper..lol . Well it actually is, but I'm just a little of a perfectionist I guess, and I don't want to look back at my pics and wish I would have done things differently. It will all be worth it remember that.

I do need help with two more things.. On the main invite it says

    Angela xxxx and Matthew xxxx
Invite you to share the sun, sea and memories of our wedding day

Shouldn't it say "their"? The designer says it won't fit because it makes the line too long and says it's ok because of the casual wording.. what do you think?

The RSVP is a postcard so that will help with postage.

I have a Wedding Weekend insert that lists our welcome dinner plans and the wedding/reception plans.. There is a day (Saturday) in between the two. I want to say something about enjoying their vacation on this day but not sure how to word it.. currently it says

    Day of Leisure
    Saturday, October 27th
Enjoy yourself next to the pool or under a palapa on the beach. Dresams Resort also has a spa that offers massages under the stars. The concierge will be able to help you make other recreationals plans should you choose to go into either Cabo San Lucas or Sand Jose Del Cabo.

It sounds chunky instead of fun. We don't wont to tell people what to do.. they are on vacation after all but it does fill up the page. Any ideas?

I didn't upload a picture of the best part!!! It comes in a light brown box with a leather band and large sand dollar around it. Here's a link to the designer's site:
Eiffel Printing & Design - 5x7 Tiffany Blue Marsupial with cane paper and sand dollars.

    I totally agree, I LOVE..LOVE..LOVE THEM! thewave.gif
Did you use them for anything else besides your invites? I wonder if I can have them made in my colors... Orange, Brown and Pink. Although the Marsupial looks stunning. Did the sand dollar ADD major weight to mail them out? If so I was thinking, would it be best to go with one of her printed monograms instead for the outer envelope?
  4. Can someone please direct me to a thread that suggests invitation wording. My fiance and I are hosting our own wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico, but our parents are hosting a little get together/simple party for us back home for when we get back. Should all of this be on the invite? Also, is there a specific text style that looks best on an invite? And how about on the envelopes? I'm open to suggestions...

    Thanks,

  5. I have a question, we are registered with Honeymoonwishes.com and Bed Bath & Beyond. On our Honeymoon Registry guests can contribute cash towards our trip for anything we want to use the cash for. This made sense to us since we already have every imaginable piece of home appliance as it is. We also listed that "We Welcome Gift Cards" from Bed Bath & Beyond. I don't know if this is appropriate. Does it sound like we're asking for too much CASH? We're having an AHR in May 09', so my BM's are telling me that I should register for GIFTS because of this. I really don't know what to do...huh.gif? What do you guys think?

  6. Dana,

You were one beautiful bride and you have a fabulous group of family & friends! I can only hope that my wedding turns out to be as beautiful as yours :). I'm also going with Tucanes and I also have a few questions for you if you don't mind me asking...

What private dinner option did you go with?

Where did you gentlemen purchase their cigars?

What time was your ceremony? reception?

Did you choose to do a cocktail? If not, where were guests directed to go while you, groom, and bp took pics?

    Thanks,

  7. Shannon- How exciting! Your wedding must have been beautiful. I really like the bouquets you used too. Your colors were HOT!

I myself am doing pink and orange with touches of brown. I wonder if I can go with the Mexican Calla Lillies and ask them to wrap them in nice orange ribbon for me. I asked for the BB14 StarGazer & Casablanca cause I thought they could find them in my colors bt Valeria says they only have them in white or pink. I really want to wear a pretty flower on my hair that would match my bouquet. I thought a stargazer would look pretty, but oh well we'll see.

  8. Thanks so much for that piece of advice Mandy.

I notice you were a May bride, which is kinda close to what my wedding date will be. What was the weather like out there during your stay. I keep hearing April is a windy month which kind of changes things with some of my planning. I wanted my hair down and I wanted to maybe try doing the program fans. Any advice, suggestions EDR brides out there?

  9. Thanks so much you guys for your feedback on the Honeymoon Breakfast & Candlelight Dinner expierences. I know this will help so many future EDR brides including myself.

Everything sounds so delicious! Being that I'm such a finicky eater, I wonder if it would be ok to ask them to maybe omit certain sauces..on things. Is it possible to just have a plain omelet? Hey and the fact that you can pick now with the option of maybe changing your choices later is GREAT!

Timelsel--- Your pictures are amazing & you guys are the cutest! I notice that the Candlelight dinner takes place right on the beach..by what restaurant is this if you don't mind me asking? And can you pick your date & time for these?
