  1. Hello ladies, I just thought I'd share my large photo collection of the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, which we loved! The property was beautiful! I'll do a formal review asap. Enjoy!
  2. We had the same problem. Our goal was to invite only those that we wanted there, while still announcing it to everyone else. We didn't just want announce it, but we also wanted them to know there would be something for them too - a way they could celebrate with us. So... rather then sending those people an invite to the wedding in Mexico, we sent a STD type annoucement to them regarding our reception back home in Minnesota. It said something like "Kelly and Ben will be married on Jan. 11th at a small, beach side ceremony in playa del carmen, Mexico. They look forward to celebrating with you when they return. Save the Date for the Minnesota Reception - May 17th.... blah blah blah. Hope that helps
  3. I think invitations are a must It's just a nice way of formalizing your event and inviting people to share it with you - even if you know they're already going to come. I'd send out an invite, but just nothing to grand, to save the money and the hassle. Maybe you could even create a nice looking .pdf and attach it in an email? Although I did send out an invite, and I'm glad I did, I regret sending out an rsvp. We sent out about 150 invites and rvsp postcards. The rsvp's were not necessary though! A waste of time stuffing them, money printing them and money buying postage! I wish I would have done an online rsvp form or a 1-800 number. That's my two cents
  4. Just incase there's another odd duck like me out there, I wanted to combine my husbands last name and my last name, so I thought I'd share the story. I've never had any desire, every since I was a young child, to take my husbands last name; so I thought this was a good step toward combining our lives and one day a family, while staying true to my beliefs and morals. Gleason + Bonde = Gleonde (after many brainstorming and opinion sessions with friends and family). Should be easy right? I did a ton of research on the subject, and no, I'm not the only crazy woman (or man) that has done this, but it wasn't as easy as I had hoped. I live in Minnesota and some counties in Minnesota won't allow this, but I found out some will. So, for anyone that's interested, make sure you double check with your state and county offices before you go get your marriage certificate. And... who knows if they would have allowed this in Mexico (we did religious ceremony in Mexico, Legal stuff here). Don't get discouraged, remember, it's really possible. Best of luck, Mrs. Gleonde
  5. We bought vases when we arrived in the destination. You should be able to find a place that has vases. We brought the sand from home - brown and white. After it was combined, it came up to about 1 inch below the rim of the vase. For transport back home, we scrunched up a plastic bag and put in at the top of the vase to keep the sand formation tight and then we put it in another bag and carried it on the plane. It made it home just fine! It probably helped that our vase narrowed slightly at the top. Best of luck!
  6. I drew the border with the pen tool, in adobe illustrator.
  7. Okay... here's my redo! Since we were upgraded, I had to create a new book, incorporating the two additional properties that we'll have access to. I also fixed the Bienvenido! As far as the rest of the typos go though... no time to proof, we're on the plane in 17 hours! Nothing like last minute huh! Gotta print these babies...
  8. Yes... they were all printed with bienenido... but our resort we just found out (3 days before departure) that our resort is over sold and my whole party of 50 is being upgraded to the 5star resort next door.... so I guess I had to redo them all anyway. Just a little last minute stress. Thanks for your quality proofing ladies! I appreciate it
  9. I'd love to send you the template, but I created it in Adobe InDesign... do you have that program?
  10. My proof did the same thing! My logo also extended outside of the dotted box. I called and they told me it meant that's where the main curve of the mug happens... I'd call them just to make sure, but I think it looks great. I love the saying!
  11. I drew the flowers in Adobe Illustrator, altered the photos in photoshop and then did the layout and design in Adobe InDesign CS2. I wish I could be more helpful, but no one seems to have those programs. Thanks for the compliments though! All my hard work is paying off
  12. well, last minute change! I was supposed to get married at the Yucatan, one week from today, but the hotel is over booked. Luckily I work for a vacation company and my colleague double checked some things with the resort and found out it's overbooked! All 50 of us are now being moved to the Riviera Palace Riviera Maya.... This is okay, right? Any other tips or advice
  13. I'd call them and specifically ask what color would print best! They tried two shades of green on mine and couldn't get it to be the green i wanted so I settled!
  14. The fans were ordered from blissweddingsmarket.com. "Our exclusive Bamboo Fans will keep your guests cool at your beach-side or summer-themed wedding. Handwoven in an intricate weave of natural-colored palm leaves, each fan is large enough to display your ceremony program or menu. A straight handle allows for easy of use." Fans are natural, light brown in color. Measurement: approx. 11" x 11" tall (not including the handle); +/- 1" variance. You can get a pack of 10 for $13.
  15. Here are the songs we included on our "Travel Tunes" cd....
  16. Do you mean how did i save the file? I sent it to our guests as a four page .pdf attachment via email. Oh.. and by the way, I should mention that I stole a lot of the copy (fun facts and stuff) from Bre - she was my inspiration
  17. Bre - I hope you don't mind, but I copied a lot of your info in my Wedding Update letter! I hope you don't mind - you had some great ideas! Thank you for helping me inform my guests
  18. Here's more - just some little note cards I had printed, so we can leave notes for our guests in style
