    Yeah, They will only allow you to make reservations in one of the property restaurants for smaller parties.......we only have like 20 or so in our party!

    I really love the idea for the king cakes! I'm just worried that once they ship from New Orleans, they won't make it to Mexico or they won't be fresh once it's time to serve them! We are flying into Cancun on Wednesday and our ceremony is not until Sunday!

    I might have to ditch the idea all together...and just do my dedication to NO some other way. Maybe the wedding favorhuh.gifhuh.gifhuh.gif??

    Thanks! I have thought about this as an option, but havn't had any luck finding a local baker in the Cancun area....

    Ok, so the resort replied and told me that they can't do cupcakes instead of a wedding cake! Not the answer that I was looking for! Now what do I do?! I'm kind of in a small panic mode because I was really looking forward to doing this with a Mardi Gras theme along with a dedication wish to my family and friends that survived Hurricane Katrina......

    Since our wedding is so far from being traditional, I still don't want a "wedding cake". Any of you have any options for me? I thought about doing those wedding cake cookies with our date or something on them, but it would be tough to do in Mardi Gras colors! (now I just don't know how i'm going to tie in the New orleans theme and wish) I guess that I could just do the fleur de fleur on all of them or something. Sorry for the rambling, just stuck and don't know what I should do!!!!!!

    Our wedding is on Sunday also.....We will be having a welcome dinner Friday night at one of the restaurants on location at Dreams. Since it is an AI, We are just reserving spaces for our 30 or so guests and paying a little extra for the extra service so that they can be there to help and be prepared. My TA is actually doing all of this for me, but the resort should be able to help you in this area!

    I'm really sorry that you are having to deal with this....I think most of have been through similar situations with our guests. We just finally decided between the two of us that a beach wedding is what we both wanted from the beginning, and sucked up the idea that people wouldn't come becuase it cost so much. It actually has turned out that more people are coming and turning it into a vacation for themselves. We also decided on an "off season" date to lower the costs for everyone as well.

    I guess you need to decide if it is really important for you to have a destination wedding and not a local wedding just to please everyone else! This is your day! You shouldn't let anyone influence your planning.......

    Just my opionion!!!

    This has been a huge issue for a lot of us here! We thought the same things, but didn't really care who attended, and just remembered that this was OUR day.......

    You will be surprised at how many people WILL book with you guys, and use it as their personal vacation as well!
