  1. Welcome to the site! There are many great photographers in the RM. I don't have any that are sticking out right now but I know I looked at a few when I was thinking of getting married there. Just as an FYI, I believe EDR charges a rate of $500 to bring in your own photographer. Run a search on RM photographers. Good luck!
  2. I am in the process of trying to find a place to preserve my wedding gown. I've called a lot of places and some are more expensive than what I paid for my dress. How many of you ladies are preserving your dress and does anyone know a reputable place in the Chicagoland area?

  5. I am in the process of making a few coffee books and I was wondering if anyone knows how to make the background black instead of the gray color that defaults when you make your photo pages. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

  8. Here you go girls, more pics... Enjoy Chantall and Patrick
  9. To be honest, it may be cheaper for you to fit them 4 in a cab and send them off. I did that for my guests for the welcome dinner and it was about 30 dollars including tips compared to 100+ dollars for a bus. Weigh your options but Im not sure how much a bus would cost. Hope this helps! Now that I look back, I regret getting the transportation through travelocity cuz I pad like 70 bucks and the trip from the airport to dreams was like 10 bucks. Can you say RIP OFF!
  10. After going back and forth on the dj vs ipod we decided toward the dj and I dont think we could have made a better decision. We didn't get introduced but that wasn't what we wanted. Dinner started at 7:30 and didn't have the dj show up until 8:00. We were all for non-tradition so it worked out well for us. There were 2 guys and have a wide selection of music. They even had the music to a couple of mexican wedding traditions. I did bring a couple songs that I hadn't asked for and they gladly hooked up my mp3 player and played the songs. I would say go for the DJ it makes it worth it. I saw a couple weddings that didn't have a dj and they seemed kinda lifeless. Our dj was contracted by the resort and it was 160 an hour.
  11. They do have many activities at Dreams. To be honest, the night of our wedding we were so exhausted (or should I say I was so plowed) that we went back up to the room. Most brides will be sleepy and will want to go to bed. Dreams in PV had a sports bar that was open till 2 am that also had dancing. It was almost like a mini club with tvs for the men. I would suggest something like that for those who want to stay out.

I look forward to seeing all of the other photos when you get them! BTW, how did you like the canopy tour? We did the canopy tour from the company right across from apple by the desires bar... I forget their name. It was a 600 ft, 10 zip line tour. Supposedly the tallest and longest. It was 80 but we talked him down to 65. Only 4 of us went and we paid for our own. Not for everyone We loved it. I am so afraid of heights but I had to conquer my fear. Your should try it. It was amazing! I have been looking at that for Maggie's wedding. Was it very expensive? Did you do it as a gift for your guests, or was it a suggestion as to something the guests might enjoy? Sorry about the questions... No problem... Happy to help you guys out! after all if it weren't for all of you, I wouldn't be able to give great reviews...

Not sure, hired him through the WC but he was really good. He had a list of over 3000 songs plus the ones he used from my mp3 player what did you have to eat at the reception? We did the coctail hour and did three cold three hot appetizers. I think they were sopes, some type of spinach quiche, and I can't remember what they others were. For dinner we did the chicken and steak, the sauted veggie salad with pesto (really good) and some type of veggie soap. You can mix and match from all options. did you do fireworks/have firedancers? No fire dancers... just a pinata, and my MOHs husband walking around making people take shots of tequila was entertainment enough. how was your hair/makeup? My hair was up since it was so hot. I used one of the photos from here. On one of the last pages... the girl is blond and it is a back photo. I did my own make-up... Very suttle what kind of decor was there? used my bridal parties bouquets as center pieces and I brought down votive holders and since my wedding colors were brown and shades of pink, I used raspberry tealights... Very romantic! The cake table had my vases from the sand ceremony with a lillie in each and the cake topper M. YAY! i'm so happy that you had a great experience! Please let me know if you have any other questions and as soon as I get more photos I will post them!

  18. Hi everyone... We just got back last night from an amazing wedding/honeymoon at Dreams PV... We arrived there on Wednesday the 10th and pretty much just hung around and got acquainted with the resort. I must say that the grounds are beautiful! Just a quick review of the resort… It is a bit older but the grounds are wonderful. The restaurants are great and pretty much all the food we ordered was great. Oceana is pretty much all sea food with an exception of a stake option on the menu but it was one of my favorites. El Patio was AWESOME!!! The queso asado, the taquitos al pastor, the pumpkin pie, everything was great! If you are a beer drinker you have to try a michelada, they are great all over the resort! We ate breakfast at the world café everyday and it was pretty good. Good variety of food… The Sea Side grill was one of my least favorites but it was still okay. Kind of bland but we tried it twice. Portofinos was good too. We ordered room service one night and that was awesome too. I had a chicken club and was done eating it in like 5 minutes. They have a grill going by the sand, which serves burgers, hot dogs and nachos. Pretty good too. Especially when you’re hanging by the pool or beach. The main pool is pretty crowded and people scout their seats VERY EARLY!!! We didn’t go by the adult pool since it was even more crowded than the main pool. Plus it was a lot smaller. There is also a pool by the old tower which was very quiet and relaxing. The resort was great and I would definitely go back and recommend to everyone! NO WRISTBANDS OR RESERVATIONS!!!!! On Thursday morning we met with Gaby, the WC, to pick out flowers, the menue, last minute details on the trio and DJ. All the planning took about 20 minutes. After we were done, we headed into town to buy a pinata, some candy to go in it. Stuff to go into our welcome bags, meet with Barcelona Tapas for a pre-welcome dinner tasting and just to walk around town. I have to say that PV is one of my fav places to go in MX because you get the real feel of MX. I've been to some places in MX where you feel like you never left the US and PV is definitely not one of those places... Most of our guests arrived Friday through Sunday. The Welcome bags were a big hit! We saw many people at the beach carrying them around. Plus I’m sure the snacks came in handy as well. On Sunday morning (my b-day) we met with Michelle at the Sheraton, our photog, for a pre-wedding trash the dress session. We wore similar wedding outfits but not our actual attire since it was pre-wedding. We took some shots in the ocean all over the sand and later got cleaned up and jumped in the pool for some under water shots. It was one of the best experiences! Later that evening we met everyone in the lobby and put everyone in cabs and off to Barcelona Tapas for a Welcome Dinner. Everything was a big hit! Awesome place, beautiful view, great service, very reasonably priced. We could not have asked for a better place! I highly recommend this place to anyone going to PV. The wedding day… I was so calm all day. My DH woke up together since we decided to spend our last night as an engaged couple together. I met two of my bridesmaids for a mani and pedi (mi sister and mom arrived later and got some pampering done) and my maid of honor her husband, me and DH all met up for lunch after our manis and pedis were dry. After lunch I said good-bye to DH and went off to get my hair done. Michelle (photog) was supposed to meet me at 3:30 to pick-up DH’s wedding present, which was BD photos that I did some editing on photofusion and made a powerpoint slideshow with some music in the background. It turned out AWESOME! Since she was early, she got some shots of me getting my hair done. We walked up to my room to give her the laptop and she brought it down to DH’s room and she kicked everyone out and said I had a message for him. After she was done taking pictures of DH, his dad and the groomsmen, she came back to my room and got some shots of me finishing up my make-up and putting on my dress. At about 5:15 it was time to walk over to the gazebo to get married. This is where my nerves kicked in… But they were good nerves. The ceremony was awesome! The minister had everyone crying and later everyone complemeted us on such a wonderful ceremony. After that we went over to the pool area for the cocktail hour and an hour later the dinner. The food was great, DJ played great songs plus the ones I requested. Once everyone had a few cocktails, we did the breaking of the piñata and a few other Mexican traditions. We had such a great wedding! I want to thank all the girls on here for all their ideas and inspiration. I could not have pulled such a beautiful wedding without all you ideas. Thank you so much… You all have become part of the memories we will tell our grand children of the most important day in our lives. Thanks again! One thing I was so disappointed about was that my something borrowed (the BDW starfish) never made it my way… I had to ask my MOH last minute to let me borrow something as I kept asking the front desk and the wedding coordinator if anyone had dropped something off but it never made it. I was so excited to see everyone’s pictures of their bouquets with it and it did hurt a little that I was able to share in that memory… Even without that I have to say that everything turned out great! The activities they have at the hotel are so much fun! after the wedding was over, we went jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking, boogy boarding, we climbed this huge water fall at right off this river at the resort, we did a canopy tour that was over 600 ft high. Everything was amazing! For anyone getting married at Dreams PV or thinking of getting married there… I highly recommend it and will help or give any advice needed. Please just send me a pm and I will help. Hope you all enjoy! They are under Chantall and Patrick. Chantall and Patrick I tried adding it as a link but it keeps telling me the page is not found... Someone please help
  19. My fiance's wedding band is palladium. The band we had originally looked at was about 2k and the jeweler recommended palladium. it was a third of what we would have paid. I highly recommend it!
  20. Congrats! When I first started planning I wanted Cozumel and when I started calling resorts (about 8 months ahead of time, all weekends were booked). Actually when I decided to change it over to PV, the resort we are getting married at had not weekend weddings available until late November. So, we are getting married on a Monday. Make your reservations with the hotel/resort as soon as possible and everything else will fall into place. Hope we can help you out!
  21. Heidi, I am so sorry for your loss. Right now you have a lot going on and don't let it stress you out too much. Take care of yourself and the baby. Remeber all the good times with your dad and siblings and don't let the negatives get to you. Let us know if you need anything.
  22. Thanks for all the dress stories. You guys have made me feel a lot better. It is very true that we expect our mom's to react a certain way to these things and when they don't, we doubt ourselves. It is our day and as long as we are happy, it will be perfect!
  23. I would send them out no later than mid November. As for the RSVP, I asked for a month ahead of time. You will get a grasp of who is coming and who isn't way before that. I still haven't gotten all my RSVPs back but I already know who is coming for sure. Hope this helps!
