As for the reception, most of us are having is at Jacques Waterfront. I'm splitting my reception between Jacques and Villa Capri (where we're staying). Good luck on the wedding plans! I've heard some great things about Rendezvous.

Hi,

Not sure how old this thread is - I'm still finding my way around this forum.

We have just booked our date for our October 2010 wedding on Pigeon Island. squeal!

Was great to read about all of your booking experiences, will really help me I think.

Dennita - I'm a UK bride too with what seems like a similiar demographic of guests. Have you chosen a resort yet?

Look forward to hearing more from you all

Hey Beach Bride, good to see a UK Bride on here. Have you booked a date then? I am planning on booking this month when the brochures come out for nxt years prices. Immediate family and friends will be booking with us end of the month so we can benefit from a group discount. I have no idea where were staying. Lol. I have two weeks of work so will be doing some extensive research. I am staying in the north as i too want to get married at pigeon isalnd. I was considering room only option, but it appears that my guest want AI, especially those with children. Im starting to think that i shouldnt focus to much on the resort considering i am planning my wedding off the resort with awesome carribean weddings. I really just need something decent and reasonable as guest wont be able to come if its too expensive. Anyway back to you have you decided on a resort and whats your plans for a reception?

Hi Ladies. I am back from my wedding in St Lucia. We had an amazing time! In a couple days I will post my full account in the wedding reviews section. Chickadee you had a question about florists. I used an amazing florist who was so accommodating. My flowers ended up being a fraction of the price quoted by the wedding planner and I was able to get exactly what I wanted.

The flower shop is called Summersdale and it is not too far from Castries. Her name is Vera Anne and her phone number is 1-758-453-7016. I really liked the fact that she also has a garden where some of the flowers are grown, so you are able to have them freshly picked. All I did was email her a few weeks prior to my arrival and let her know the types of flowers I needed and she was able to let me know if they were available. I made my own bouquet and used flowers for my ceremony and reception.

Hi Dennita,

Yes we have a date, wedding will be 8th Oct 2010 at 4.30pm,

We will travel out on 3rd and stay for 2 weeks. We then have a party at home after we get back.

We have booked through Dreamy Weddings.

Not booked actual holiday yet, as the brochures aren't out til July. I am spending all my time on trip advisor reading reviews.

I am also trying to find an affordable resort. I was thinking AI, as they will have more going on during the day. Also I understand that eating out is actually quite expensive, so at least this way everything is paid for and all people need to bring is spending money. I am thinking either Almond or Rex, depends what I can find cheapest. Both seem to have good and bad reviews, so I guess each as is good/bad as the other.

Feeling a bit guilty about a destination wedding, or at least St Lucia as it is one of the most expensive places! Our guest list has taken a bit of a hit. What with the economic problems, but we hope to still have between 10 and 20 come with us. Group discount is also high on my agenda but I think that is going to be a bit extra work for me. It would be good to know what you get arranged and manage to wangle if you don't mind sharing?

Reception wise, we will go for a meal, and then I have cunningly chosen a Friday as our wedding date so after we have eaten we can go to the jump up!

Not sure where yet, my WP is going to send me some menus nearer the time. I have spoken to another St Lucian bride, and she said they went to Jacques and it was lovely. I shall wait and see as we have a couple of fussy eaters coming with us.

Have you got a dress yet? I am making my first foray into bridal shops next weekend. EEK.

Trini bride - Congratulations. I am glad you had a great time and I look forward to reading your review. Interesting to read about the flowers, I am considering taking silk, but if you have found somewhere good they may be worth me remembering.

Hey girls. First, thank you Trini bride for the florist tip! Beachbride, some restaurants to look into are Jacques (where must of us are having our dinner), The Edge, The Coal Pot, and 1461. There are tons of good restaurants on the island.

I do not have experience with either resort, but I think Rex would be a good choice because I think there are three different ones to choose from. Then you can go between each of them whenever you want. I apologize if I am wrong in saying this.

My wedding is 10 weeks from tomorrow! Eek!

Thanks for the tip Kirsty!, I will see what I can find on each of these resturants.
I think our resort choice is going to have to come down to cost. I would rather stay at a "lesser" resort than have some of my guests not be able to make it. It will all depend on what is cheaper.
10 weeks? You must be bouncing off the walls with excitement - I know I will be.

Does anyone know if Trini bride has started her report yet? I have been looking for it but not seen it yet. If I am being dumb can someone help me out and post the link!

Hello Trini Bride,

Nice to have you back. Glad to hear your wedding was amazing... Thanks for the references as I am also picking out my flowers when I get down there.

I look forward to seeing pictures and more recommendations from you as I am a bit nervous now that I am only 3months away before my big day.

Thanks

Vel

Hello,

As far as flight from NY it depends. Pricing is usually around $550-$750. If you are looking to buy tickets now, it might be a more expensive since Easter/Spring break is right around the corner, you might want to wait until after May to book, flights might go down, but again I don't know for sure...

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
