  1. Hey Beach Bride, good to see a UK Bride on here. Have you booked a date then? I am planning on booking this month when the brochures come out for nxt years prices. Immediate family and friends will be booking with us end of the month so we can benefit from a group discount. I have no idea where were staying. Lol. I have two weeks of work so will be doing some extensive research. I am staying in the north as i too want to get married at pigeon isalnd. I was considering room only option, but it appears that my guest want AI, especially those with children. Im starting to think that i shouldnt focus to much on the resort considering i am planning my wedding off the resort with awesome carribean weddings. I really just need something decent and reasonable as guest wont be able to come if its too expensive. Anyway back to you have you decided on a resort and whats your plans for a reception?
  2. Hi all how are your wedding plans going? I am still as indecisive as ever and still trying to find a resort, once that is sorted i can get start planning other stuff. We have definately decided not to stay at the Almond Smugglers cove given that the reviews are not very good. We were considering Bay Garden Beach Resort, but since speaking to our guest they would all prefer AI, especially because of the children, which does make sense. I have looked into the Windjammer, but the AI prices are far to expensive for our guest to pay, approx £1800 ($3600), so thats not an option. I know its our wedding, but i really feel as though i have to make sure that we please everyone else, as i would like all my family and friends there with us. The only other cheap AI option is the coconut Bay Beach resort, which has excellent facilities for the children travelling and its close to the airport. only downside is that it is on the otherside of the island. Kristy maybe you could help here as i know you have stayed there. Would you recommend it and do you think our guest would be bored, the singles in particular? Please help if you can and post any ideas you may have regarding accomodation. Thank you in advance.

We are planning on going this August but do not have a date nailed down yet. I have read through some of the posts and it doesn't seem like any of you are going the Sandals route (at least for the wedding). I can't find a lot of information about it so I just wondered why? I don't want anything to fancy or that cost a lot so I figured we would take the free wedding from Sandals and just do a few ad ons. Any thoughts? Please tell me I am not making a mistake here. Also, do you ladies know where I can find pictures of brides on here that have been married in St. Lucia? I have search through some threads but have had not luck finding any. I have never been to St. Lucia or to a Sandals resort. I am excited but a little scared too. I have heard a lot of great things but some bad about Sandals. Can anyone calm my nerves? Thanks in advance for all of the help!!! I need it!!! JLW Hiya, I cant really offer much help as i too am a newbie, but i just wanted you to know that i share your apprehension. I have never been to St Lucia, so im literally starting from the beginning with my planning. The girls on this site have been an amazing help and have either been or done alot of research. Awesome Carribean Weddings is also very helpful if your planning a wedding of the resort. I was thinking about going Sandels for our honeymoon, but were now thinking to go to another island, probably Barbados. We havent booked anything yet, as prices dont come out until April for next years holidays, so i am using this time to research so that we can book immediately then. I hope i have made some firm decisions by then lol. When are you planning on getting married? There are pictures of Brides for other DW i saw some for Dominican Republic, but not for St Lucia, well at least i havent seen it. There are pictures of Brides on Awesome Carribean Weddings and Testimonies. Happy planning and welcome to the site.
  4. Thanks for the email and details. I wasnt aware that the resturant options were private. i have received copies of the menus from awesome carribean weddings, but thought they we would have to eat with other diners, which i dont want. I also didnt realise you had the option to dance too, so can you arrange to have a DJ, play ipod or do the resturant have their own music. Also do you know id they decorate the resturant for you? I too am starting to think about a room only option, as much as i like the idea of not having to worry about meals, i dont want my guest to ber restricted. In addtion, i want to be in the centre near the nighlife, we have alot of young singles coming who will appreciate that. Im worried that if we do AI we wont get to fully explore the island and will be restricted to the resort. You seem like you have everything under control, cant wait to i get to your stage and know what im doing. Its hard trying to make the right decision and please all of our guest who are so varied, the young, the old, the families, the couples, the singles, the kids. I just want everyone to have a really good time if there paying all that money. Thanks again for your help.

  6. I have used TA to help me find a resort for my wedding and i must admit i have been put of some resorts because of the reviews. However, in the past i have read negative reviews of places i was due to visit or had visited and i had a lovely time and could not fault it. People do have different expectations, but when ur planning something as important as your wedding, its hard not to listen to negative comments read on TA.
  7. my wedding aint until June 2010, but i have already started planning. I too cant book anything until April, but have given family and friends information and estimate prices so that they can pay a deposit and we can book as soon as the new brochure comes out. I think its better to plan in advance for a DW so that people have enough time to pay for the holiday.
  8. Hey i did look at Coconut Bay, but we wanted something on the Northern end so that we can have a wedding at Pigeon Island. We got alot of singles coming so we want to be somewhere livey so that they can have a good time too. Once were married then we will want somewhere relaxing for the both of us. We to are now thinking of going to another carribean island after the wedding rather than staying in St Lucia. It works out to be quite cheap. were thinking Barbados, as thats a place that me and FI want to visit. The Villa sounds like a good idea, but i dont think i want to put all my family together, as we tried this in Florida a few years back and it was hell on earth. They are close, but all have strong personailities, so would work better having own room in a resort. One of the other girls suggested Bay Gardens resort, which looks lovely. I am starting to think maybe we should do room only rather than AI so that our guest have the flexibility to eat outside of the resort, although im a little worried if food is expensive outside the resort. Also we want to be in Rodney Bay close to nightlife for our guest and to have fun before wedding. Has anyone been to the bars/clubs? What is the nightlife like? Bay Garden Beach resorts also has meal plans so guest can have meals included if this is what they want. Kirsty how many guest have you got going? The party at the Villa sounds great. we are still undecided about our reception. We both want a private party. we looked into the Beach party, which is still an option, but it is so expensive. it would also mean that we would have to restrict our number of guest to 30 in order to make it affordable. We are also thinking to find out what facilities they offer for a private function at the hotel. We have checked the Almond smugglers Cove, who give you full use of a resturant, but you still have to pay for meals and drinks even if you are staying there and there prices are steep for what they offer. I am trying to find out what the Bay Garden Beach resort offer for a private function, i have seen pictures online and it looks nice. I tried to email them but no response as yet. Does anyone have a contact for them? Also is anyone else considering a party at the hotel? Please make suggestions for reception ideas. Thanks.

We are also using Awesome Caribbean Weddings as our planner and we are getting married at Pigeon Point at the Cliff View location. Immediately after the ceremony we are doing a "photo walk" and get pictures at the Sugar Mill ruins and on the beach. After the ceremony we are having a celebration meal at Jacques. It's just the two of us and one other couple (our best friends) who will be there, so it won't be a full blown reception, but I have heard great things about Jacques and I know they can handle larger receptions. Congrats again, and if you have any more questions, ask away! Good to hear another couple getting married in St Lucia that hasnt been before. its quite nerve wracking when you have never been, so its good to have this forum to rely on information from other people that know about the island. You havent got long now, you must be so excited. How long will you be there for and where will you be staying? Awesome Carribean Weddings did send me info about Jacques along with a few hours, which me and my FI will have to go through and decide. Hopefully you will be able to let us know how it is when you get back.

I am so excited my wedding is in June only 4 months away… Can’t wait.… Congrats and good luck with your planning… We are hear to help anyway we can. There are a few brides to be that have been before so they can help with more info if needed. Anyway, here are a few comments on your questions asked. I am using Awesome Caribbean as my wedding planner, so good choice. They are grate!! They can help with planning your accommodations. At first I planned on booking with Windjammer because it was AI, however considering the price and location and that everyone would have to take a shuttle bus, I canceled and booked with Bay Gardens Beach Resort for my wedding accommodations, recommended by AC. Bay Gardens is located near the Caribbean sea beaches and is close to all shops- restaurants, if you are looking for that. Not all-inclusive, but very reasonable As far as Almond, I did a few research and from what I heard it is not all that, especially if you are looking for a nicer beach, reasonable price for all-inclusive though. My Wedding Ceremony will be held at Pigeon Island. My honeymoon is booked with Sandal Grande. I spoke to few people that been there and they had all postive things to say., so great choice... I will let you know how it is when I get back.... I am sure the others would like to comment and give there recommendations as well for consideration. Good luck!! Thanks for your advice. I haven't heard of the resort your staying at, is it room only? I have read reviews about the Almond Smugglers cove and there have been some positive, but also alot of negative and they did mention about the beach too. However, my main concern is the weddding day, which is why i have decided to do a wedding of the resort. I havent booked anything yet, but confussed about where to stay and whether to do AI or meal plans, do you know if food is generally expensive in St Lucia? At the momment flights and accomodation is approx £1500 for 2 weeks, so around $3000 per person, hence why i am trying to find a cheap accomodation, but at the same time i do want the accomodation to be decent for my guest. Awesome Carribean Weddings have been great and very quick at emailing me back with my questions. Im still undecided on my reception, what have you got planned for yours? How many guest have you got going and how long will you be in St Lucia for? well its great to talk to another St Lucian Bride and i cant wait to see your pic and review.
  11. Hi im a 2010 bride. Were getting married in June. Wanted to start planning early so that we can save and give our guest enough notice to pay for the holiday. It seems so far away, but im sure it will come before we know it.
  12. Hello i am new and getting married in June 2010 in St Lucia and official date has not been set yet.....really excited and looking forward to planning my big day
  13. Hi all i am new to this forum and a St Lucian Bride to be. I am planning on getting married in June 2010. I have found this forum so helpful for information and advice about weddings in St Lucia. We will be travelling from London, England and have already started looking at prices for hotels and accomodation and it aint cheap. Both me and my FI have never been to St Lucia, but wanted to get married in the Carribean. We both fell in love with the pictures of St Lucia. Given that it is expensive for our guest to join us for our wedding we are trying to make it as cost effective for them as we possibly can. we are planning on staying at the Almond Smugglers Cove, as we have children in our party and its looking like this is one of the cheapest AI resorts for families. I have decided to go with Awesome Carribean weddings to plan my wedding day and wanting to get married at Pigeon Island on either a private beach or cliff view.....any recommendations? We are unsure about our reception at this stage but the beach party looks good. I have heard some of you mention that your booking resturants, do they include a party for you also with music etc? We are planning on going to Sandels Grande after 7 days at ASC for a further 7 days for our honeymoon. Could anyone please offer advice on are plans so far we havent booked anything yet and just wanted to make sure where doing the right thing. Does anyone know anything about ASC or Sandels Grande? We need to keep the price down for guest, but are happy to pay whatever it cost for our accomodation for our honeymoon, is Sandels a good choice or is there a better option? Sorry for bugging you all with my questions, but just really anxious about my decisions and want to be sure before we book.
