  1. Oh sorry, ours is the one at the top of the blog that says "Neha and Ryan at Moon Dance Cliffs" or something like that. You girls should look forward to your sunset pics!! It doesn't get any better than that!
  2. Okay, so "the knot" is not going to work because the files are too big. Here is the website of my photographer- she has some of her pics that she took of us in Jamaica up on her blog!! ~ Maggie Stolzberg ~ Photography
  3. a couple of other things I thought of... If you have any vegetarians in your party, make sure you let MDC know ahead of time. The veggies in our group had a little trouble finding stuff to eat. We worked it out, but it was a little tough. Also, instead of doing a traditional guestbook, we bought a map of Jamaica from Omnimaps.com (it was only $25 and got to us in a few days)and had everyone sign it with Sharpies. We're going to frame it and put it up in our house. I'm trying to upload pics to my "theknot" page and I'll let you know when I have them up! I'm sure I'll keep thinking of things to tell you girls...I'll keep posting as I think of stuff.
  4. Hey girls!! Just got back a couple of days ago- the wedding was SOOO Awesome- you girls will be so happy with everything! MDC is truly a great experience. Vendors I used: Tai Flora for centerpieces, Floral Fantasy for bouquet Maggie Stolzberg photographer (AWESOME- flew her out from Ft. Lauderdale) Fire Dancer (through MDC) Sound Illusion DJ (MDC) We got there Wednesday to our beautiful Villa and our great butler Kerry. Relaxed and jumped off the cliffs! TIP: bring bug spray! Tons of mosquitoes...the resort will provide some if you don't have any though =) Thursday: Breakfast at our villa. Welcomed all the other guests. Had welcome dinner (get the pumpkin soup- sooo good) and karaoke! The Karaoke was a little weird (they just found karaoke versions of songs on You-tube- a little ghetto). Friday: Got up and hung out by the pool. chilled until my hair/makeup appointment at 2:30pm. Ross at the MDC salon was GREAT! I loved my hair and makeup (I brought my own foundation and concealer). Suggest your photographer comes with you to this and takes a few test shots to see if you need more concealer/ eye shadow etc.. 4:30 pm- walked down the aisle to my awaiting groom to Pachelbel's Canon in D. Ceremony was 10 minutes tops and then did pictures and cocktail hour. The sunset was PERFECT - we got some really great pics. 7pm- got announced, first dance, and then dinner and then partying!!! Kerry was a really great wedding planner- she took care of EVERYTHING! Paul from Sound Illusion was also great- don't worry if he doesn't respond to e-mail- we met with him the day before the wedding and he really knows music well. The centerpieces were great too! Everyone at Moon Dance really went out of there way for us and everyone in our wedding party had a great time. PM me if you have questions!
  5. July2010-welcome! I think you'll really like MDC. I was worried about the beach thing too, but a lot of my guests are staying at MDC for 2 or 3 nights and then going to a beach hotel 1 or 2 nights. Let us know if you have questions as you get started!
  6. Hey girls! So much drama over the past few weeks...un-bride, glad everything got worked out- I would have been FREAKING! Our countdown is 51 days...yikes! Mostly caught up- I did find a great favor I wanted to share with all of you- it's a "Beach Memories Photo Album" on mrsweddingfavors.com...they're only about $2.50 and we are personalizing them by putting pictures in beforehand of us with our guests. The product ID on that website is: KA16004 in case anyone wants them! Everything else is going pretty well...putting together song lists and stuff, last minute wedding dress details, etc. It's so soon! AACK!
  7. Hey ladies! Yup, I'm in full wedding planning mode...here are a few updates about MDC. 1. I am going with taiflora- a different florist in Negril. They seem to be pretty good and it's very easy to communicate with them over e-mail. 2. MDC changed their menu! Honestly, it sounds awful. I e-mailed Kerry asking why they changed it- it has things like chicken nuggets and fish sticks on it- REALLY- for a wedding? I am extremely frustrated about this right now...I'll let you know what comes out of that situation. 3. Other than that, things are going fairly well. Still need to get my wedding band, figure out my hair and makeup and finalize song lists! It's all coming so soon! I hope it works out- I'm about done thinking about this crap right now- I just can't wait for it to be over! Anyway, hope everyone elses planning is going well!
  8. Miss Blade- we are having a jamaican ceremony only. We just think it's easier. Mastistlye- your list looks good! I can't think of anything else for the music. Also, everyone except the photographer is staying at the resort. We are paying $125 for her to attend. (keep in mind we're doing AI, so it may be different if you're not doing AI). Are you using the DJ's speakers for your ceremony music? (i.e- what are you playing the Ipod through?) I guess I'll just figure out the tips later...it does seem silly since we're already paying gratuity, but I just don't know about the wedding planner and Dj and Minister...hmmm...
  9. Hi girls!!! I am still in full wedding planning mode. I am doing the AI option, so if anyone has specific questions, let me know. I just advertised to my guests that AI was the only option, and gave them a list of other resorts in the area in case they didn't want to do AI. big3n09: We are not doing a video person- I asked my brother and my FIs brother to bring their camcorders. I figure it will be funnier if it's a candid video =). Also, we are having our guests do all their own flight bookings, and then they send me the itinerary and I'm making a spreadsheet with all the flights/times for MDC to arrange airport transport. Mastistyle: My wedding is November 27th! Right after yours! yay! A couple questions for you girls: 1. Do you think we're supposed to bring tips for the wedding planner, DJ, etc? I'm not sure how that works. 2. What are you girls doing for ceremony music? 3. What are you girls doing for centerpieces? I talked to Kerry about Floral Fantasies and I thought they were super expensive. Is everyone using them? I'm trying to avoid bringing all my own centerpieces with me, but I'm runnign out of options... Hope everyone's planning is going well!
  10. Claudette, Thanks for all the info! You are great! And I looked at your pics- they turned out amazing. We will definitely be putting together an itinerary for everyone including all the flight info, and I think we're getting a fire dancer too, because of your glowing review =) big3n09- we had a tough time choosing a photographer as well. I ended up going with someone who was recommended by a friend here- we are flying her out to Jamaica, because we want pictures from the whole weekend. It seems like it's worth it because it ends up being quite a bit for a photographer in Jamaica for only 6-8 hours. Anyway, when we were picking a photographer, we looked at their style- we definitely wanted someone who had a more "journalistic" feel- not as many posed pictures. I don't know if that helps, but I would say try to find someone that suits your style. Do you want posed pics, candids, super artistic. Other things to consider- do they/ can they edit your pictures (i.e. airbrushing, effects), are they an "in your business" photographer or more out of the way? Well, I hope that helps! Our photographer is Maggie Stolzberg and I talked to her several times before we booked her. I'm sure you will get amazing pictures no matter who you go with.
  11. Claudette, gorgeous pics! You look amazing! Congratulations- glad the wedding was everything you hoped for. =) My update: still in planning mode... we got our plane tickets and so have our parents, so we're definitely getting married in November at MDC! (no matter who else shows up =) ). We are trying to figure out our reception decor right now...I really like the table runner with a few centerpieces look. I think we're going to go with that. One question- what is everyone doing for favors/welcome bags? I'm trying to find something small and useful for our guests! I found some seashell bottle openers that are cute, but I don't know... Anyway, I'm starting to get excited! Time's flying by! Hope everyone else is doing well.
  12. Congrats un-bride! You're already farther ahead than I am! Mastistyle: I literally got the price list today from Kerry, and it says $200 per hour, for a minimum of 4 hours. Yikes! I'm thinking Ipod.
  13. Thanks for all the info! Claudette- I am so excited for you!!! I will definitely check out Brian- can't wait to hear about your wedding. lynnmb1021- we spoke with Aaron and he seems really nice too. nylaphoto- also great info. I certainly wasn't thinking about lighting! We have some decisions to make! I was thinking around 3pm for the ceremony. Does that sound about right? Is everyone doing an afternoon ceremony?
  14. Hey all! nobody's posted in a while...We've signed our contract and are putting the deposit down Monday! I'm so excited to finally have the place booked! We did decide on the AI option so if anyone has questions about specifics, PM me. Also, I bought my dress! Things are finally coming together. One quick question- we are trying to figure out our photographer and have spoken to Sungold and Saab so far. Any suggestions on how long to get the photographer for and if the "associate" photographers are any good? I looked at the websites but they only have a few pics by the associate photographers. It's certainly a lot cheaper to go that route though! We're thinking the 5 hour package...think that's enough time to get the wedding and some of the reception?
  15. Hey girls, I didn't mean to throw everything into chaos! Sorry! I just wanted to share the AI information I got, but from what Kim tells me, we definitely don't HAVE to go AI, so I'm sure they will be flexible. Also, did everyone get their 'contract' over e-mail? I thought they would send a paper contract....Is the e-mail thing normal? Also, are they giving you this 3% service charge crap? (you lose 3% no matter what if you don't use all the rooms you originally book). One more question- airport transfers. Does MDC pay for any/all of them? Aaargh! This is so frustrating!! MDC does not seem like they are very organized! I'm just gonna have to let go of my control-freakish nature Okay, I lied- one more question...this may be somewhere else in the thread, but how much are people paying per person for the reception (incl. open bar?)? Randy keeps telling us it depends on what we order...So if you all don't mind sharing..
  16. Also, I forgot to mention we have not signed any contracts yet, so the AI rates are not grand opening or special. I think they are just the rates that the hotel will charge from now on...Cause I think people that booked earlier got better 'grand opening' rates.
  17. Here is the all-inclusive info I got from Kim. I'm unclear as to if there are extra charges for the reception or not. I do know that if anyone staying at MDC with our party does AI than everyone that is staying at MDC has to. Also, they have to do AI the whole time they are there. here 's the e-mail: I will send you a pending deposit letter for your review. We are changing over to an all-inclusive resort and the price will be $225 per person per night based on double occupancy plus the 18.25% tax for a hotel room. The cost for the one bedroom villa will be $295 per person per night based on double occupancy plus 18.25% tax. The cost for Midnight Cove Villa is $245 per person per night based on double occupancy. If you are interested in the new all-inclusive package please advise.
  18. Rain? That is a good question... I'm sure they have some sort of indoor facility..otherwise, umbrellas for all! I'm starting to freak out a little...MDC seems so expensive compared to other places in Jamaica and I'm not sure it's worth it. I am looking into switching to Sunset at the Palms...any advice? Also, I got a price list from Kim and just decorating the Aisle costs $50 according to the price list...it doesn't seem like ANYTHING is included in the "free" wedding! I don't know how anyone ever gets married! Wedding planning is so stressful!
  19. We are getting married in Jamaica November 28th.Yup, jerk turkey it is. We are most likely getting married at Moon Dance Cliffs in Negril. It's between there and Sunset at the Palms, also in Negril. I can't wait!
  20. Hi all! We are really close to booking at Moon Dance Cliffs. I found out they do allow children to the wedding if the parents sign a waiver. Where is everyone having their reception? Do they do outside receptions? Anyway, I'm super excited to ALMOST have the place booked- we are getting the contract this week and then I'll be in full wedding planning mania! This forum has been SOOO helpful! I will contribute as much as I can for future MDC brides. Speaking of which, the last e-mail I got from them said they are trying to go all-inclusive (they offered us an all-inclusive as well as a non all-inclusive), so anyone looking for that option should not eliminate MDC.
  21. Hey Moon Dance Cliffs Brides! We are currently debating Moon Dance Cliffs and I'm really excited...one question though- their website says they don't allow children under 12... One of my friends has two little ones and I was wondering if there are nearby places they can stay. Also if they will be able to attend the wedding!!! Anybody else run into this problem?
  22. Thanks for all the info! The more I look at the El Convento, the more it seems like where I want to get married-it's so beautiful! FYI- the Intercontinental was recently renovated and seems like a good alternative for people who want to stay on the beach. I think it is also a little less expensive (but not by much!).
  23. Evie, thanks for the information! Puerto Rico is in our top 3 and we appreciate any information we can get.
  24. Evie, Where are your guests staying? I am looking into the El Convento- it's such a beautiful hotel! u I don't think our guests could afford it! I was looking into alternatives but can't get a feel for where all the other hotels are in relation to the El Convento. Any help is appreciatied!
  25. Hi all! We are considering the Windjammer for our wedding but I looked up flight prices from New York and they are $800! (january 2010). Is that normal or will prices go down? Any help would be appreciated!
