So I bought a dress I ADORE, but which isn't exactly a light dress. My wedding is outside on the beach, in Punta Cana, in late June. Has anything tried strapping one of those chemical ice packs to their legs under the dress so they don't pass out from the heat? Yes, it's probably crazy, but what else is a garter good for, right? wink.gif

I know I usually can't keep an ice pack more than 15 min when I have to use one - and I usually wrap it in a towel - so keeping it for more than an hour ? No way ! Plus, it would drip between the legs... that would for sure be very uncomfortable !

Omg, too funny!!! That could be a silly idea... or it could be a BRILLIANT idea! Lol. Not sure. I can't see having that on you all day, but it could save you for a little while I bet! As long as it wasn't actually ice, just one of those cold packs that you activate by popping or whatever.

Can you show us your dress? I'd love to see this beauty that's worth sweating over!

My oh my! What does the dress look like. I guess it could work. I mean WP suggests keeping an extra pair of shoes in the freezer for the reception once your legs get weary of all that dancing, a nice cold pair should do the feet good but I don't know about an ice pack? Lol! It is funny to think of it though.....stuffed in one's garter.....lol!

Hehe, don't worry, I wouldn't leave it on all day! But for a 20 or 30 minute ceremony on the beach, it might save me from passing out from the heat. I'm a little bit of a wimp.

Here's the dress! I searched for it for a month to try it on, sadly when I finally found the ONE sample on the east coast, it wasn't in my size and I had to have a very tiny friend try it on. But I still love it:

Wow, that's gorgeous!!! It doesn't look that hot, but I guess I will have to take your word for it! Who's the designer?

LOL I was thinking the same thing!

Because it looks like (for now, anyways) my ceremony is going to be at 2pm. So I was thinking how I could use those fabric bandage tapes or wraps to strap a couple of small first aid cold packs (the kind you crack to make cold) to myself.

Thinking more so for after the ceremony, don't think I want to risk something fall out or dripping during...

PS: not crazy =)

personally, i don't think i'd be very comfortable with something strapped to my thighs! perhaps a pretty little hand fan in your wedding color(s) would be a better idea? or a cool beverage before and after the ceremony?

if you're going to try it for your ceremony, i'd just suggest that you try it out before the wedding, too, to make sure you won't be uncomfortable or that it won't slide down your leg... awkward!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
