I am trying to decide on flowers for the wedding but am not very knowledgeable about the subject. I would like to Peonies and Orchids as my flowers. Does anyone know if these are flowers that will be in bloom in Mexico during my wedding?

This site seems to have some answers to that

My wedding is in May (although this year) and I am getting married in Cancun. I wanted peonies but they would have been super expensive. The florist said they were going to have to have them shipped in from Holland or something. Not sure if that is true or just an exageration. But I am going to use orchids, roses, cala lilies and stargazer lilies and they were all reasonably priced.

Maybe you should contact your resort! They might know what flowers will be in bloom and how much $$ you will have to spend.

Peonies and orchids are not native for this area and they both have to be shipped in. Therefore the price is usually more expensive then other flowers such as roses. Orchids are available, however they will always need to be pre ordered. they are usually shipped from Mexico City and have a fee of $20 each flower.
Peonies are not easy to find. I have never seen them here and think they are not available. You might indeed be able to ship them in from Holland however this is probably very expensive. THe other problem could be that they might not withstand the heath and humidity of this area.

              I hope this information helps.

Peonies are always expensive and it depends on the type of orchid you are looking for. The dendrobiums are less than some of the others. You could look at getting your flowers done in silks...

I actually suggested doing silk to my MOH and she hated the idea. Maybe I need to get a few more opinions! LOL!

This is EXACTLY the information I was looking for. I am flower and plant retarded. My FI says I could kill a plastic plant! Anyway, I would like to get something native to the area so I am not stressing about the arrival if they need to be shipped! Thanks again!

wow! Is that how much orchids cost?? I see them everywhere in pictures I thought they would be more affordable. although i have no idea how much flowers are...but wow. well I guess the going rate for a bouquet is about $125...right? so...i guess that would be about 6 or so orchids...
