  1. We had the Strawberry passion package too. I was told by Victoria that we could only choose one choice per course. However, I mentioned that in our group guests had certain dietary restrictions and shellfish allergies and she allowed me to create entirely separate menus for these people. For instance, the main group had the tomato and goat cheese salad, lobster bisque soup, surf and turf and raspberry white chocolate dessert. For our vegetarian guests they had all veggie courses and for individuals with "shellfish allergies" or just an aversion to fish, they had the Tomato and goat cheese salad, onion soup, chicken main and same dessert as the rest of the group. Everyone raved about the food! Surf and Turf main was a huge hit as well as the coconut wedding cake....so moist! Just an FYI though, if you have separate menu options for guests, your WC will want you to make place cards for your table specifically identifying those with a special menus. Congrats and excellent choice! The resort is beautiful and your guests will LOVE it! We were married at the Palace Nov 2013 at Coral Beach for both the ceremony and reception. It was a dream come true! The resort exceeded all of my expectations and the pics online do not do it any justice.
  2. Hi there, I also ordered a white organza dress. The company is Stella York which I believe is the new name for Ella Bridals. I love how light and flowy the organza feels...very romantic! It is a great choice for beach weddings as it is airy and not overly heavy. My dress came with crinoline underneath, but had it removed during my alterations and couldn't be happier with the results. IMO, crinoline traps a lot of heat under your dress. Any other Q's, let me know! See attachment for pic!
  3. Hello ladies, I'm looking for some advice from past brides about external DJ's services for our beach reception. I read somewhere on here that the Barcelo charges an hourly rate to use their electricity for the DJ setup/equipment throughout the night. I've heard one way to save $$ is to rent out the DJ's generator for a flat fee. My concern is that the generator might be quite noisy. Can anyone comment on this from firsthand experience? Thanks so much!
  4. Chanelhall5, your pics are beautiful. Can I ask which location did you have your reception?
  5. This was a very tough decision for my fiance and I. Photos are very important to us, so we were willing to splurge a little in this area. We contacted several photographers in the area and depending on the package can range from $2100 up to $8000. After contacting a few of the vendors we were still unsure, so we decided to look locally in Ontario. We hired a local company in Ottawa called Union Eleven to do our engagement photos and they are amazing. So amazing that we are paying the travel expenses for the photographer to stay with us at the resort for 7 days in addition to the price of the package. The package we chose is about $ 3300 for 10 hours+ on the wedding day, plus a few couples shoots before/after the big day and digital rights to all edited photos, plus photo albums, etc. All in all, with travel expenses we will be paying just under $5000, which I believe is well worth it! Our wedding group will be in the Riviera Maya, Mexico from Nov 23-30th, 2013. If our dates are close enough to each other, I recommend checking out their work as an option for photography since they will be in the area anyways!. They are awesome! www.unioneleven.com
  6. I am very curious what the other bride's feedback was about Fr. Hogan as he is performing our ceremony and mass at the Barcelo Palace this coming November.
  7. Hi, I'm a newbie and have spent a quite a few hours sifting through all the unbelievably useful info on this site. We're getting married November 27, 2013 at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Date is confirmed, deposits have been paid and 10 people have booked so far....woohoo! We are heading down there from Nov 23-30, 2013, and I am beyond excited! Good luck with the planning, ladies!
