  1. Ginnigirl, You have nothing to worry about. Everything will be absolutely AMAZING!!!!! The onsite wedding coordinators are amazing Elena and i forget the other ones name but they are both sweet as sugar. I actually never purchased the centerpieces. With the food on the table there is actual not much room for one. We did the family style buffet on the beach and everything was amazing. We only had 33 guest, i do recommend the dancefloor if your going to be on the beach. We hired DJ Mannia but could have done just fine with an IPOD. The people at this resort really cater to you and make you feel really special. We paid for the one bedroom suite, upon checking in, they upgraded us for free to the suite with the private patio deck we felt like superstars we had an additional hot tub on our roof along with lounge chairs and beach beds plus our own barbecue grill. Also the cab ride to 5th street to go shopping is only about 15 minutes and cost $12.
  2. HELLO, Our wedding is at the Azul Fives on May 7th, 2011 and i wanted to know how was the skye terrace view. From the pics ive the view is great. So i changed the ceremony to the skye terrace and will keep the private beach reception. Do they have daily entertainment for my guest that choose not to traveled off the resort? Also what did you use for centerpieces as i have not chosen that as of yet. Also wanted to know for the music we hired DJ Mannia for our reception but for the ceremony, we have no music. They said they have a few wedding songs that are really nice. Are they really? Did you use one of their's?
  3. hope you enjoyed san fransisco. i love your pics!!! very very nice!! how much extra did they charge you for the chair covers & sashes, i planned on bringing my own pink sashes for GRP but at least the chair covers were free. i believe the chairs stated uncovered in the description of the wedding package. We were booked for the platinum suites and a few of my guess booked for the villas the WC told me we will all be in the one bedroom suite and the deluxe & swim up suited will go into the deluxe room. Some guest felt they were being downgraded from the swim up suite to a deluxe room, i can't please everyone, i guess they'll get over it.
  4. Hello Melanie, I was a GRP bride as well my date is May 7, 2011. We have changed to Azul Fives as well. Can you give me some reviews/possibly pics of how your wedding turned out. I have read some reviews on the resort and everything seemed to be good. They do offer more additional options than the GRP, i'm so nervous. Did you do your own hair or did you use their facilities if so, how was it? Did you have a rehearsal dinner the night before? or a cocktail party after the ceremony? We were having a beach reception at GRP, hopefully we can do the same here. Can you please post any reviews or message me privately at [email protected]. Thanks alot in advance for all your assistance.
  5. I AM HAVING MY WEDDING AT THE NEW AZUL FIVES RESORT AND I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A PHOTO BOOTH THERE. PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE I CAN HIRE. THANKS IN ADVANCE I'LL DEFINITELY KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED.
  6. IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS GOTTEN MARRIED AT AZUL FIVES PLEASE SHARE SOME FEEDBACK GOOD OR BAD?
  7. We have just moved our May 7, 2011 wedding to the New Azul Fives. We booked all our rooms through destinationweddings.com, they are offering us the move with for additional money for our guest that have already made their deposits. This is an offer we couldn't refuse, we are getting a 5 star resort for 50% off. I believe that the GRP would have been all right to go by May, but with the option to move a step up we couldn't refuse and their private beach receptions are more than half as cheap. Good Luck to all the brides that will remain booked with GRP, im sure everything will be just fine, that is one beautiful place.
  8. I was scheduled at the Grand Riviera Princess Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico but i have been told due to the explosion i have to move my wedding and i was conisdering Bavaro Princess Resort in Punta Cana. I really wish they offered it in the islands.
  9. That was my original idea but i thought they would melt before i made it to my location. How are you going to get the m&m's there and on the beach w/o them melting?
  10. I REALLY WANT TO HAVE A PHOTO BOOTH AT MY WEDDING AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NOT REALLY HEARD DONE WITH DESTINATION WEDDINGS. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO CAN YOU PLEASE POST IT, THANKS!
  11. hello, I am working with destinationweddings.com for the booking of my rooms and working with the details of the wedding was with patricia now i hear someone named Alexandria. Haven't actually spoke with her as of yet. Couldn't get her to reply to any of my 7 emails that i have sent over the past two months. But my wedding coordinator through Destinationweddings.com got in touch with her she is the one that old me my new wedding coordinators name and that she would be in touch with me. Im not sure exactly who told her about the closing all i know is i got an email stating we just got word from GRP that the resort has been closed w/o a reopening date as of yet. She suggest to me that i should start to look at other locations, so that is where i am right now. Its a huge headache trying to find something close to GRP group rate that they had given us and that also offer kids free. I have 5 kids attending my wedding and alot of resorts do not offer the free kids. We are now looking at Bavaro Princess Resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It looks like they have the same packages as GRP. They also have the option to have the private reception on the boat. Their rates are a couple of dollars cheaper, they just don't have the swim up suites. Waiting on coordinator to confirm they have my date available. If so this hotel might be a go. Wish me luck as i will be wishing you some as well!
  12. Hello, I would love to see some of your wedding pictures if you could email me at [email protected]. We were booked for the Grand Riviera Princess Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico fro May 7, 2011. However, im sure youve heard about the explosion and the closing of the resort. My wedding coordinator has sent us Bavaro Princess Resort as consideration for the switch. I read alot of good reviews and alot of not so good reviews. Some people were complaining about a swamp/mody odor and rude staff. This has been a total nightmare for me because all of my guest has already paid on their rooms and now i have to find another location within 6 months that is within the same price range as GRP. We originally opted for the private beach reception and hired DJ Mannia for the reception w/ the lighted dancefloor package. Now everything is cancelled great thing is DJ Mannia did offer us a full deposit back but he also does business in DR so i may just rehire him back. We originally were going with the gazebo that was included with the princess package but now that i am reading alot of people are saying that is not a great choice. I am completely confused now!!! =( I am working with destinationweddings.com and im waiting for them to let me know if my date is available for this resort. I'm hoping i can find a resort suitable for my guest budget. We have a guest party of 39 including the us. She also sent me information for Iberostar Punta Cana, but i haven't even read any reviews on them as of yet and they don't have the FREE kids offer like the Princess Resorts do. We have 5 kids attending our wedding so that is something we have to take into consideration. Wish me luck! I look forward to seeing some pics so i could get the visual of this place. Thanks in advance for everything!
  13. Hello, My wedding was scheduled for May 7, 2011 at the GRP resort. I got an email from my wedding coordinator yesterday she stated that she received notification from GRP that the resort is now closed and they do not have a set date as to when they will be reopening. We were contemplating on staying even after the explosion but now i guess we don't have a choice we have to find somewhere else. This is a complete nightmare knowing that now i only have about 6 months to put everything into prospect. Good Luck to all the future brides, i know im gonna need it. One good thing is DJ Mannia did say due to the circumstances they would refund us 100% of the full deposit. Now its just a headache of finding another location, that offers private beach receptions and can have 40-45 guest, then looking for a new photographer, dj, etc. I just want to scream but i guess maybe this happened for a reason and it just wasn't meant for my family and i to go to Mexico. Since having to switch resorts of course everybody in my wedding party really doesn't even wanna consider Mexico now. So i'll be searching elsewhere.
  14. I would love to see your pics as well. I'm getting married there on may 7,2011. My email address is [email protected]. thanks!
