  1. I am not sure what the St. John's Place is, do you mean the St. James's Club by any chance ? The SJC is located on the SE side of the island. You are on the atlantic side of the island so the water is nice and blue on Coco's beach but seaweed does wash up quite a bit due to the currents. There's a wonderful trade wind that blows all the time so it keeps you cool in the warm sun. The Mamora Bay beach is just that, a bay ! It is not that wonderful blue hue.It is very calm and hot ! All the watersports are located in the bay along with some food and drink services. We were very happy with our wedding at the SJC back in 2008. I know they have done alot of upgrades to the resort and the wedding venue areas since we got married there. You now have more choices for ceremony sites and they give you some choice on decor and flowers.( I had a lovely 80's hand held bouquet ...lol) They now have a wedding facebook page, check it out for some photos of wedding sites, decor, flowers etc...

  7. You're welcome ! Any info I can pass on is my pleasure...I did lots of research on Antigua and finding a photographer was my biggest worry as photos were the most important thing to us so we ended up bringing one with us. If you have any other questions fire away...
  8. There are quite afew on the island now compared to when I was looking in 2007 for our April 2008 wedding. Go on www.antiguanice.com and there is a whole wedding area listing photographers and wedding stuff. Â We brought a photographer from Canada with us for the week but if Vanessa Hall would have been on the island when I was looking to book someone she would have been my first choice ! Rob Breadner ,Shelly Chadburn and Vanessa are afew that come to mind. They all have different styles and price points... Â Congrats on chosing Antigua...we loved the island and can't wait to go back...
  9. We got married in Antigua and we brought ours with us as a guest for the week. There are some great ones on the island now ( there were none when I was looking to book for April 2008 ). Go on Antigua and Barbuda Caribbean Vacation travel and tourism holiday information guide and check out Vanessa Hall, Shelly Chadburn and Rob Breadner. They all do great work in different price ranges and different styles... Before you do book your resort, make sure they allow outside photographers on the property. Some resorts might make you buy a daypass for them.
  10. We were married at the St. James's Club in April 2008 on the island of Antigua and loved our week spent there ! We changed resorts and went to Galley Bay for our honeymoon week and it was outstanding... We had 18 guests join us and we all enjoyed ou week there....pm me if you have any questions !
  11. We got married in Antigua in April 2008. I trashed my dress at Half Moon Bay and we also went into St. Johns to take some fun photos. We brought our photographer with us from Canada as there were only two people available back when I was looking to book someone, now there are atleast 4 -5 great ones. I love your photos at the pillars of hurcules ( snorkeling ones).
  12. For those of you looking for "beachy" style bridesmaid dresses check the online Sears site...I bought a great aqua colored halter dress to wear at our AHR and it was under 100$.You can have it shipped to you or you can pick it up at the store, if it doesn't fit they will let you return it as long as it still has this special tag on it. It is only available in the aqua and a yellow ( was in a baby pink also before) now .It was very comfortable to wear and light, can definately be worn again. It is on the site under womens dresses, bridal.
  13. You can checkout the new Tommy Bahama store in the new Cross Iron Mills mall for those of you you living in AB.They carry lots of beachy items that are great quality. I ordered my hubby's linen outfit for our DW from Island Importers online. They give you measurements online for sizing and they are bang on...we had to have his pants shortened because they didn't have his size available in a 30'' length but even with the shipping and duty they were cheaper than anything else that we had found and my Hubby loved his drawstring pants.
  14. We gave each couple /single person a beach bag as a gift and all the staff soon figured out who was in our group by our matching bags. When we would go for breakfast we would be given a run down of who had been in and who was doing what by the lady who ran the restaurant...we loved it ! It was our morning entertainment...lol Many of the staff knew we were getting married just because of the bags, seems they had met everyone else in our group with theirs and we were the talk of the staff...the matching beach bag group ! Our guests loved their bags as they got other guests talking to them because of them...we were known as the Canadian wedding group...
  15. Hi, the Verandah Resort is one of the sister resorts of the St. James's Club which is owned by Elite Island Resorts. You have to book your wedding date and ceremony time directly with them. You will receive a confirmation number and the wedding coordinator info( email ) from them and then you are on your way. There is not alot that you can book before you get there...I prebooked for our wedding dinner in the restaurant that has a surcharge and I booked a group dinner for our first night there( ended up being 2 tables of 10 close to eachother in one of the restaurants that was open that evening.) We met with our wedding coordinator to chose our flowers, cake and ceremony site the morning after we arrived and had it all organized within 2 hours.Believe me this was hard going not knowing anything as I am a "planner".It was so simple, there is nothing to stress about. They are a little slow getting back to you by email but I always heard back within 24-72 hours...they do everything on island time ! The VR & Spa is a family resort with all the rooms located in bungalow style accomodations. If the food is anything like at the SJC you will not go hungry ! The food is great quality for an AI resort.Long Bay and Devil's bridge is in walking distance of this resort but other than that you are quite isolated in terms of ammeneties close by. Coco Bay is very rustic and the cabins are located on a hill so if anyone has mobility issues this might be a problem. I believe it is adults only but not positive. I don't think you have as many dining options there as at the VR & Spa. Whatever location that you chose will be great, you just have to figure out what is important to you for your big day. If I can answer any other questions let me know, we loved Antigua and would get married there again in a heartbeat !
