  1. I did that! We got married at the bahia principe san Juan and I wore an anklet...this was a second marriage for both so my dres was not white...it was a pale blue and it was long. You could se it a bit on my ankle but it looked very nice...had many compliments on it...and that it was a shade of blue! M.
  2. I think she sais $4000.00 a couple, not person...so that would sound about right, give or take a few hundred dollars... I'm getting married in Puerto Plata at the Bahia Principe San Juan...we lucked out, there was a great deal on this resort with Noli Tours back in March, for 979.00 taxes in, for adults, and one child stays and flies free...we have kids coming so that was a bonus too. This promo only lasted about a week or so, booked up quick, and then jumped back up to 1400.00-1600.00/week for adults. Having a travel agent work for you is important as they can see these deals and advise you when they come up... M.
  3. Yes, sad to hear, I felt your pain and frustration while reading your post. I have heard of things getting stolen before, and how no one helps, you feel alone and that makes it more frustrating...almost like "why bother" anymore. I think it is a false sense of security when they say that there is an inroom safe, especially a computerized card that opens the safe. You think it is all good and safe, but in reality, there are many that can access it. Our resort has safes in the rooms but with an actual key not a computerized card...my fiance joked and said that he bets all the rooms have the same key! They do however advise you to not keep your room card with your safe key...no brainer! I will bring my e-ring, but I will wear it the whole trip, and leave most of my jewlery at home, this way, no fear of losing it or getting it stolen... hope all works out well for you and put closure to your whole episode...all the best! M.
  4. Hello! Yes, seems you are not alone! I am doing the same thing most brides here are doing or have done. This being a second wedding for us both, we wanted simplicity and ease! We picked the destination, booked the wedding date, picked our package and that's it! I will take care of the rest the day after we arrive, as per my wedding coordinator. We are bringing our first dance song on a CD, few extra flowers will be ordered for moms and some guests, but that's it! I want it to be more of where we are rather than all the extras...to have the family, friends that will be there, is all we need to make this day special and memorable. I did the traditional wedding with the 300 guests years ago, the planning was actually painful, not pleasurable! lol! this is way better, and I would recommned this to anyone. so relax and enjoy, the rest is done after you get there...! M.
  5. Hi, i am getting married at the bahia principe san juan in puerto plata, not the gran bahia principe, punta cana, but the same chain of resorts. I can't help but notice the ordeal these brides to be are going through to book dates for their weddings. I had my date booked, confirmed and flights booked in 2 days. I didn't have to wait months to get confirmation form the resort, i feel so bad for these brides, i would have gone nuts waiting! We started to plan in march 2009 for our september 15th wedding. I was worried as i thought it was too little time to book for a wedding to happen in 6 months, but it went ok, great actually! I have to commend my travel agent and georgina, the wedding coordinator at this resort. She was quick with emails and got back to me super fast. I was lucky to have my future in-laws go to do a site check, and they said it is awesome. They met with goergina on my behalf, and all is confirmed! So to all these brides who are in limbo waiting...good luck and be patient! It all works out in the end! M.
  6. Hi, Thank you to all for the good wishes...I will definately write a review with lots of pics! M.

  8. Hi, Just wanted to say Hi, I'm new to this forum...a little too late but oh well! Where was this site when I needed it! lol... I am getting married in less than 2 weeks, at the Bahia Principe San Juan in Puerto Plata. This is s econd marriage for both so we thought this is the way we want it, a destination wedding! Everyhting is all set and we are just waiting to go! M.
  9. Hi, I am getting married there in a few weeks, Sept. 15. We leave on the 10th as you have to be on the island 3 days before they can marry you. We started planning in March. Searched the books for a nice, but reasonably priced resort. We have 12 adults and 7 children coming, so we wanted to make sure it was kid friendly and again reasonably priced for our guests to go down and the wedding package too. I was lucky enough to have my future in-laws, go there to check it out on a last minute holiday they took. They came back with many reviews, all great! This resort is nice, as you have been there. There were no problems, and the wedding venue, the gazebo is just lovely she said. So that was it, we booked it. Georgina is the wedding coordinator there, we of course emailed her fiorst before we booked to see if they can marry us that week we wanted. All was good and the date was set. So we booked the flights and that was it. We just then had to get all our documents in order, as I'm sure you have heard about. I am in the Toronto area, so the easiest and best way I was advised was to go to the Dominican Consulate to get it all done. I know there are others out there, but be aware, as I informed by the Consulate, they are not legal and charge way more to make money. The DR Consulate is the best way to go, and it was done in 4 days! peace of mind... So there is nothing to do now but go...we are all excited and everything is done on this end. I would recommend for you to email Georgina as she is a doll! Very informative and she can send you all the packages to choose form. her email is: [email protected] Good luck! M.
