  1. We got married on the beach at 3pm. at least when we were there...the chapel did not have air conditioning. Did u ask the wedding planner if it has ac?
  2. Just remember, it gets really hot out there on the beach for the guests. A short ceremony is okay! I think ours was like 15 minutes max. It was so much fun, I would do it again in a heartbeat! We got legally married in the states the weekend before we left. We actually got married swine flu weekend at Dreams Tulum!
  3. Also, here is the reading that my 10 year old nephew read: “May you be blessed with all things good. May your joys, like the stars at night, Be too numerous to count. May lack and struggle only serve to make you stronger and may beauty, order and abundance be your constant companions. May every pathway you choose lead to that which is pure and good and lovely. May every doubt and fear be replaced by a deep abiding trust as you behold evidence of a higher power all around you. May you always be aware you are loved beyond measure and may you be willing to love unconditionally in return. May you remember that love flows best when it flows freely. May you always have music and laughter and may a rainbow follow every storm. May gladness wash away every disappointment, may joy dissolve every sorrow and may love ease every pain. May every wound bring wisdom and every trial bring triumph and with each passing day may you live more abundantly than the day before.†Also, this is the reading my 10 year old nephew read:
  4. Ladies - I got married at Dreams Tulum in May 2009. Here is the part of our ceremony that lead up to the vows and the vows that we used: “The vows which have been exchanged are but words that are fleeting and the sound of them is soon gone. The wedding rings become an enduring symbol of the promises which have been made†“Katie and Max please join hands.†“These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch." "Max Repeat after me...Katie, as I place this ring on your finger, / may it always remind you of my never-ending love, / and may it always remind me / of the precious treasure I have in you. / wear this ring with joy, / for your love has made me complete." "Katie Repeat after me...Max, as I place this ring on your finger, / may it always remind you of my never-ending love, / and may it always remind me / of the precious treasure I have in you. / Wear this ring with joy, / for your love has made me complete."
  5. I am looking for a way to preserve my wedding invitation. We could do the put it in a frame thing, but I'm trying to think of a more creative, fun, unique way to make it into a keepsake. Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. My husband and I got legally married in Chicago before we we had our destination wedding in Mexico. My husband's parents think we should celebrate the day we signed papers at the court house as our anniversary. But we don't! We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary on May 1st when we said our vows in front of our friends and family on the beach in Mexico. The courthouse thing took 2 minutes and it was only the legal part. We've heard horror stories from people we know who did the legal part in Mexico or the islands and they ended up waiting 6 months to get their marriage certificates mailed to them. Plus, you have to get bloodwork done and who wants to be stuck with a needle a few days before their wedding!? Not me!! Just keep sticking to your guns with the parents. It will all work out for the best. I don't have any websites or links to any supporting documentation, but it has to be out there somewhere. Good luck!!
  7. This might be a little late, but... What about any Jimmy Buffet song? Has that tropical flair to it. Or what about the song, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz?
  8. We used: M______________________ _____Bags are packed, can't wait to share your joy _____Can't make the trip, but sending warm wishes!
  9. Here are my invitations from last year. I had a local graphic designer based in Chicago design them for me. They were perfect! THE INVITATION: TRAVEL INFO AND RSVP: TRAVEL INFO: RSVP POSTCARD FRONT AND BACK: RSVP CARD CLOSE UP FRONT: RSVP CARD CLOSE UP BACK: ENVELOPE: OUR SAVE THE DATES (DIY):
  10. I used the resort flowers and loved them! I had white calililies and brought my own ribbon to tie around the stems. Loved them! They will work with you to make your bouquets the way you want them.
  11. We got married in May 2009 and flew to Cancun on American. I carried on a backpack and a carryon size luggage. My husband carried on a carryon size luggage AND a garment bag that had my dress and his suit in it. My MIL works for the airlines and she said to just carry my dress on. Don't call ahead or anything, just do it. So, that's what we did and it worked out perfectly. She said to say to the flight attendant is, "We're getting married and this is my wedding dress, can we hang it in the first class closet?" Well, we didn't even have to ask the flight attendants...they saw us carrying it and asked us if we needed to hang it up and we said, "YES, thank you! We are getting married and this is my wedding dress!" They were very nice about it.
  12. I love the song, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. It's got a funky cool beat that would be neat to walk down the aisle to.
