Sort of wedding attire QQQ, for guests....

So people keep asking us what they should wear to our wedding, (the big "fake" one at home, not the small "real" one at destination). It will be at 7:00pm on a lake in mid-July, and we want guys to wear dressier hawaiian shirts and khakis or slacks, and ladies to wear sundresses or similar. We would rather not have people show up in shorts, so I keep describing it as "Beach Formal" but I don't think that really conveys the right thing. What words do I use to describe "not formal, but no speedo's please?"

 

I'd like a specific phrase to use that we can say and use in the wedding website info page. Be creative!

I think "summer cocktail attire" would work for you... usually that means knee length dresses for the girls and slacks and dress shirts (sometimes short sleeves) for the boys... then when people ask what that means, you can say "feel free to wear tropical hawaiian prints and florals"

I agree - summer cocktail attire is what i was going to suggest. You could probably do something fun on your webpage or invite and have pics of cartoons wearing clothing you think is appropriate or something like that. I am not graphically inclined to make that stuff, but if you like the idea, i could probably do some searches for you tonight...
