@@Kcusack89, Yup I am. It is super helpful. I was just hoping to get some perspective from someone who just came back from visiting. Sometimes I get confused with the facebook group too because it can be hard to figure out which location the brides are having or had their wedding at.

@@Harrisc15 so true. I did my bdp in January and I can tell you all the venue's are as stated on the website and they are beautiful!. During my visit we toured all the sites just so we knew we were picking the right locations for us.

We were able to do a full menu tasting and picked everything we'd want. We also did a desert and cake tasting.

I did my hair and makeup trial as well. If your not picking then I'd say go with the resort. They did everything I asked for and I will be using them for my day.

Large gazebo for ceremony

Decks for cocktails

Ballroom terrace for reception (we won't know till April 13th if we secured this location but I'm pretty sure we will)

The trip went very well! It was mid 80's every single day and not a drop of rain. We stayed on the Zilara side and the resort upgraded our room to a JR suite with an awesome view of the ocean and pool.

We did food tastings. For Hors d'Oeuvres we tasted the smoked salmon on crispy potato pancake, island cheese dumplings with jerk chicken and the steak tartare. For entree we tried the plantain crusted mahi mahi and the chicken basilica with rice.  We also tasted the red velvet cake and the vanilla cake. Everything we tasted was very very good. We were very pleased and didn't have any dish that we disliked. The cake was very moist as well.

We toured all of the wedding locations. The sky lounge has a fantastic view. This is where we will be having our ceremony. The ballroom is the standard wedding ballroom, nothing really unique.  The terrace was my favorite wedding location. The downside is that it is not an official wedding location so the only way to book this for the wedding is to pay $5000 to secure the space!  :o  Otherwise, you will have to wait until 45 days before the wedding to check if it's available and then you can book it at that time at no additional cost. Our coordinator did advise us that this location is a popular event location and gets reserved very quickly.  While I was there this past weekend they had an event on the terrace 3 nights so I do see what she was saying. I would love to book the terrace for my reception but the extra $5000 seems rather steep and my fiance doesn't think it's reasonable.

The resort did not disappoint at all. We were beyond impressed with the service, amenities, pretty much everything.  We ate at almost all of the restaurants and enjoyed every single one. We didn't try the French restaurant or the buffet but we ate at Horizons on the adults only side, Fuzion, Brazil, Calypso and the jerk shack and everything we ate was delicious  :D

Fingers crossed for you that you secure the terrace! It is indeed a beautiful location

Thank you ladies for the information! That makes me feel better about the food, salon and location sites!  I have a hair trial on the 21st when I arrive, so hopefully I am happy with it because I don't think I can afford anyone off site . That makes me happy about the food being good too- you never know what you are going to get when you go to some resorts! I  keep hearing all these great things about the terrace, I am excited to check it out- but yeah $5K is absolutely absurd. Maybe I can sweet talk my fiance into securing it if we both love it!

@Kcusack89- do you mind sharing pictures of your hair and makeup trial with us? If you don't want to, it's totally ok! What kind of style did you do for your hair? I'm so jealous that your wedding is almost here! I'm so anxious to get this party started :)

How was the beach during the day? Was it super windy? As of right now we are having a beach ceremony with cocktail hour and reception on the decks. I'm hoping that there is a little breeze so we all don't sweat to death, but super windy would be super annoying too. I guess this is sort of unpredictable though- i'm just trying to make sure we pick the best locations for everything!

The beach was breezy in Jan it was very comfortable and I'm sure it will end fine any month. I chose the terrace and just had a back up in case there's a corporate event. I'm doing an afternoon wedding so I really needed an area that was covered from the sun so my guest don't have a heat stroke

I'm doing an up do for mine I showed her a Pinterest picture I just wanted it twisted and up more natural looking and not a ton of hair spray. ..My make up pictures make me look crazy lol I wasn't making the proper face so I don't want to share those lol but for me it was natural and nothing over the top I liked it alot

@Kcusack89- that looks pretty! Did it stay well? I wanted to do something similar and add a headband right in front of the "bump" in the back (I have no idea what it is called) and just have a few strands hang in the front.

I'm going to have a head band type thing as well I just forgot it in my room lol. I had them.take it right out so my fiance wouldn't see what I was going to have but the curled stayed in all day and the following day too with very minimal hair spray. I'm expecting more humidity in may but overall I was very impressed.

I agree with @@Kcusack89 the beach was breezy while I was there but nothing to affect having your cocktail or ceremony.

I forgot to mention that the resort's preferred vendor Tai Flora met with my fiance and I during our preview.  We discussed my flower and decor vision and I was told they would have a proposal with pricing for me before I left Jamaica. As expected I didn't receive it before the end of my trip and have not received it to date.  I'm not planning on using them for my wedding anyways due to the horrible reviews I've read here as well as on other sites.  My coordinator arranged for them to sit with us during our preview and we figured it wouldn't hurt just hearing them out.

@@Kcusack89 wow your hair came out very pretty. I did swing by the Zen Spa when I was there to check out their bridal suite.  They told me that they charge $300 to rent out the suite to the bridal party for the day of the wedding. As long as the $300 fee is paid they would allow outside vendors for hair and make up to  come in and use the space to do the bridal parties hair and makeup.  I'm thinking of doing this because I'm having 7 bridesmaids who will be getting hair and makeup done plus my mother and mother in law.  I think it would be easier to have everyone come to the one location to get the hair and makeup done and I will be able to get dressed in there as well for the wedding ceremony so that my fiance can use our room.

Yup tai flora did not give us a quote until about a month ago. It was very frustrating and they came up with a ridiculous number. Since they were taking forever for a quote I demanded the hotel provide me with more qualified vendors to use. I got a quote from JM floral which was very reasonable and we will be using them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
