I really love your outfits!  They look sharp!   Love the purple and all your colors will come together beautifully!

The converse sneakers are a huge trend, hey?  They are fantastic and I am sure your guys will love them :)

Décor:

It almost time to finalize our décor options with our WC so its time I finally made a decision!!  I’m a very visual person but have a hard time visualizing things together myself.  I usually prefer someone else to put things together and then I can say yes or no haha.

Ceremony

Our ceremony will be on the skydeck which is beautiful so I’m thinking it won’t really need too much in décor.  I’m expecting guests to just love the view!  We’re going with:

-        the included white garden chairs,

-        sheers on the gazebo,

-        4 flower arrangements – I want the flowers to be a mix of dark and light purples white and beige

-        1 small flower arrangement for the ceremony table

This is my inspiration pic

Attached File  Sky Deck 1.jpg   36.02KB   3 downloads

I also want to do ceremony fans that will double as a program.  I’m thinking of DIYing this so I should get working on that soon.

I also want 2 different signs at the ceremony location.  In order to get upstairs you get on the elevator and to the 3rd floor and then you walk up a flight of stairs to the sky deck.  So I’d like a sign that says “Love, Laughter and Happily Ever After this way” by the stairs.  The by the actual ceremony I’d like a sign that says “Pick a seat, not a side, we’re all family once the knot is tied”.  Our good friend (she actually introduced us) is very creative so she’s offered to create the signs for us AND carry them to Mexico for us haha.  We’re going shopping tomorrow for inspiration and supplies :)

Reception

Here is where I keep going back and forth so you can’t hold me to any of this just yet :)

Guest tables:

This is the tablecloths we’re going to rent from the hotel and then as centerpieces we’re going to do 3 different sized vases with floating candles and votive candles around it.  Trying really hard to keep these costs down since we have 10 guest tables, so we aren’t using any flowers.  I’m not a huge flower person so I’m ok with skimping on this and I’d rather have a photobooth then flowers haha.  Our reception will be under a gazebo (well the dance floor is) and we’re going to have a number of paper lanterns in while and purple handing from it and will be adding Christmas lights around the poles.  Something like this but with purple instead of blue.

Sweetheart table:

I’m planning on using my and my bridesmaids bouquets on our table.  I’m also thinking of having a lantern on each corner of the table and a few votive candles around the table.  I also want a banner of some sort on the front but can’t decide what we want it to say.

Guest book:

We’ve decided to go the nontraditional route when it comes to a guestbook.  So we ordered a framed print off of etsy that we’ll have our guests sign.  We are so excited for this!  I cried when it came in since it’s the first thing that has my new name on it :)

Attached File  guest book.jpg   42.14KB   3 downloads

We’ll have this on table with markers, a sign asking people to sign it and votive candles.  Maybe we’ll add a few pictures of us around here.

Escort cards:

We will be assigning tables but not seats for our guests.  And what better way then by using maracas as escort cards!  We ordered the maracas from amols.com and love them!  We also created “tags” on vistaprint that will be attached to the maracas.  This is the look I’m going for:

Attached File  maraca table.png   592.14KB   3 downloads

This is the front of the tag (we still have to write the guests names):

Attached File  Front tag.jpg   30.08KB   3 downloads

And this is the back of the tag:

Attached File  back tag.jpg   33.47KB   4 downloads

You should, it's gorgeous.

I love all your ideas for the ceremony and the reception!

Flowers are pricey, thankfully I re purposed mine from the ceremony to the reception as well :)

We also used maracas with that saying and I had to laugh because we also used the same font from Vistaprint LOL!!!

Our guests LOVED them and were shaking them all night long and dancing with them.  Best idea ever really.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your guestbook frame. Would you be willing to share your Etsy vendor? I may just want one of those to hang at our house :)

@Janjin oh my gosh! Everything is so beautiful! I love the sky deck set up and the simplicity of everything. I think you chose right! I love the guest book idea! Its super cute and so easy to put up around the house afterwards to remember your special day every day! The escort cards are awesome! I think that will be so much fun on your wedding day!

@calgarybride2015 - good thinking - maybe I can have the ceremony flowers brought down to the reception and placed around our table and the guest book table :)  Haha too funny I'm using the same font - it just looks fun to me :)

The etsy vendor is AlphabetArtPhotos.  She was very responsive and quick.

@yycbride2016 - thanks!  Having everything in one place here is definitely keeping me organized and excited :)

@Janjin

What I did was use my bridesmaid's bouquets as the table's centerpieces.  Then I had the ceremony table flowers on the head table, and the large hanging flowers on the cake table.  At my resort I guess they always re-use the ceremony flowers, so I just had to tell her to make sure the bridesmaid's bouquets got into the vases and we were good to go!

I had one more table than I had bridesmaid, so I had an extra bouquet made.

I would def look into it, you would think they should have no problem with this and if they do, they are just a cash grab :(

@calgarybride2015

Yea, I'll have to talk to my WC about it because I agree I don't see why they couldn't bring the flowers to the reception.  I only have 2 bridesmaids and I'm going to need 10 centerpieces so that's why I figured we can use their flowers and mine on the sweetheart table and everyone else can have the vases and candles.

@Janjin I love your bridal party outfits. I love the rich purple tone, very elegant. AND I love the grey pants and suspenders with the custom converse sneakers! That's great that you were able to find both moms' outfits and make a day out of it.

As for your decor vision, it's all very beautiful. Again, I love the dark purples! Now with the flowers you'll have during your ceremony, would you be able to repurpose those for the reception? Maybe you can use them as your sweetheart table decor. And I've seen photos of that gazebo and have always wondered where that was. It's gonna look beautiful with the paper lanterns and string lights. And I agree with @calgarybride2015, which Groupon vendor? I love that!

Ahh just finished writing, stuffing and labeling the thank you cards for my bridal shower gifts!  Just have to pick up some stamps today during lunch and mail them out.  They're going out exactly 1 month after the shower - not too bad!!

I had the thank you cards made using vistaprint

@Janjin Everything looks great!! That purple colour is very rich and I think will be very elegant. I love the resorts with the deck like yours. There have been several brides here that have used the Karisma resorts and had it and it's just gorgeous!! I love what you're thinking for the set up. Very pretty!

What sort of tag did you get from Vistaprint for your maracas? it's so pretty! I only need about 8 tags so it isn't worth it for me, but I really like how it turned out. I'm using a similar saying on ours too. I think a lot of brides use it. That and "Shake for a Kiss" is the other popular one.

Definitely push to repurpose your flowers. I can't see why not! And you're paying for them so for sure it makes sense!!

I said "yes" again to the love of my life at Grand Coral Beach Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico on our 4th anniversary - October 20, 2015
