@@calgarybride2015 I did ring the bell LOL! It was kinda silly but kinda cute.

Agreed. When I finally chose mine the place had cleared out some so it didn't draw a lot of attention. Not sure I said this above but I had intended to go for a short dress but then it totally escaped me when I was trying them all on. Hahah!

I love the dress! It's short, but very bridal, it does not look like a bridesmaid dress. Sometimes your dress kind of surprises you when you don't expect it :)

David's bridal definitely has the best prices from what I've seen, so you can't beat that ;) and when it comes to BM they have so many color selections, it's great. I was actually going to go try some wedding dresses on there but then I fell in love with the one I got :)

Yeah, I may go with David's for BMs. My girls are in Portland, OR and Toronto, and I'm in Vancouver, so we're not going to be able to get together for a day of shopping. Since there is David's here and in both of their cities, at least we can all look at the same dresses, same colours, etc. I know you probably can do this with other lines (i.e. get the name of the line, the model numbers and find a local place that has them), this just seems easier.

I'm looking at one of these two colors below (Oasis or Pacific). Pacific looks more turquoise/green than how it appears in the photo (at least on my screen), and both look brighter than this. I like Oasis more as a color, but when I saw it on a dress it seemed a bit much, so I'm not sure. I'm thinking I'll just tell my BMs to pick any short dress they like in the color I end up choosing.

David's Bridal BM Swatches

@@Victoriabride I gotta say, my dress is sooooo comfortable. It's not heavy (although the beading does add a bit of weight). But more importantly the bottom layer is stretchy without being clingy. It almost feels like I'm wearing a nightgown. LOL

I loved oasis. I saw it in person at the store and went man! Maybe I should have scoped out their colors before choosing my color scheme. Haha! I loved mine though -- begonia they called it. I only have one BM here so the other two we did measurements and hoped for the best and worked perfect.

@@calgarybride2015 Do you mean that you also found Oasis a bit much when you saw it in person on a dress? Not sure from your comment and wondering if it's just me  Begonia is beautiful (and also bright  :)). I didn't notice it in the store, though, as I was completely focused on blues/greens.

Sorry haha!

No I mean I loved it a lot and had I have seen it early on in my planning I may have incorporated it too! I love pink so I was dead set on fushcia no matter what, but maybe I would have found a way to use the oasis color. It really caught my eye and I was a little bummed that I just chose pink and didn't explore alternatives or complementary colors first lol.

That said I did add on orange and turquoise later on in my planning but by that point the begonia dresses were purchased and the other colors were used as a 'touch of' to compliment fuchsia. Haha why am I having a hard time getting this across tonight?

Edit - and I agree. The colors look darker than they are. They are more vibrant in the right light.

I find colors always look darker in our amateur pictures :). I like the Oasis more, but that's just me because I love blue :). They're both very pretty though.

Initially I told my bridesmaids they could pick whichever dress they liked as long as it was the color I had picked. They all ended up choosing the same hahah.

Flower Update

I'm still struggling with this a bit in terms of colors/specific flowers, but I feel like I am getting a better idea of what I want. (see original post here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/79068-vancouverpetunia-now-sapphire-april-7-2016/?p=1894005)

I think I may get my girls clutches instead of bouquets. The bouquets are at least $65 each, depending on the flowers I chose (luckily I only need 2 bouquets), but I could get clutches for the same price and at least they may get some future use. I really love flowers, but throwing away $130? Ugh.

I was thinking of doing this on the tables:

centerpiece 1

But my WC informed me that they want $90 per vase! Seriously? It might be $10 worth of product in there. And you know that the people putting it together are making next to nothing. Ridiculous!

They also want $120 to fill 20 individual vases with flowers (vases not included - I was going to rent them myself from KatyHK). I'm not sure which flowers they mean - the regular kind included with my package or something fancier (since I have asked about both). I do get a centerpiece with my package valued at $125, so I believe I could apply the $125 against that.

So now I'm thinking of doing this: rectangular tables with individual limes down the center, maybe some leaves if I can get them, punctuated with about 7 vases with individual flowers. I figured I can get the limes locally for cheap and maybe I can even get the resort to ask the gardeners to put aside some of their trimmings (???). Something like this with the limes:

lime table runner

And then add in one of these vases every foot or two:

centerpiece 4

(but I would be using different flowers and no purple vases, but some blue/green and clear)

I figure I might have to pay an extra $75 to get a few more flowers, the vases will cost me about $50 to rent and the limes - well I don't know, but let's be generous and say $50. So $175 to do 4 tables as compared to around $375 to do one vase with limes and have some individual flower vases (factoring in my $125 centerpiece credit). Even if they charge me a set up fee (so far they've quoted me $100 x 2 to set up a couple of different things), I'll be ahead and I think the decor would have more impact spread down the table like that.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations on how to make friends with the gardeners when I don't speak Spanish?  :D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
