Meandhim - Grand Palladium Bavaro - Nov 2015

Recommended Posts

I only have one Bridesmaid in Calgary, the other 2 live 10-12 hours away!

What we did was going out the two of us one day to David's Bridal and try on all the dresses.  The top 3 we liked we sent them each a picture and let them choose. In the end all 3 loved the same dress so we picked those ones.  Before I purchased them I asked the girls if they were ok paying $120 for the dress (I paid for $40 of each dress) and they said yes. They sent me their measurements and I ordered them. They just paid me back.  No one seemed phased by it.

I guess I just feel so guilty that everyone is paying so much to go to the wedding I'm trying to limit any cost of being a bridesmaid...Being a bridesmaid can be super expensive...I'm buying their Shoes and jewellery...but there is still the dress and hair and makeup

That's a good idea to pay part of the dress...thanks!

I also felt guilty but my BM's would have nothing of it.   They paid $120 for their dress and then for their hair and makeup.  I didn't think they would do that and just do it on their own but they wanted too.   No one even batted an eye, but for all the weddings between us the bridal party always paid for that stuff so I guess for us it was normal.  I did buy all their shoes, jewelry and extra gifts to show my appreciation.

Ok so I looked into the dresses. I got confused, they were actually $160 with the discount :(. They're called Venus Bridal. I'm in Calgary so I got them at a bridal store here but you can probably search what bridal stores sell that brand over there. Here is the website:

Yeah when I was a BM in my friends wedding in Vegas I was so stressed about all the money...We all HAD to stay at the Bellagio and get our Hair and make up done at the spa there...it was CRAZY expensive! I don't want to put that pressure on anyone.

Yeah I feel bad about asking too much of them. They're both students so I paid for their dresses but that means I have to keep their gifts super simple. I can't pay for their hair and makeup, however one of them is really good with hair so she'll probably do the others and we have a couple of hair dressers in our group :). As for the makeup, I'm ok but doing it on myself, I really can't do it on other people haha.

@@TinkerSofi  Surprisingly I can do make-up on other people just fine but not on myself...lol!!

although all my BM's are great at doing their own make up so I don't think that will be a problem. If the prices are too high for the girls to get hair done then I'm going to ask my friend who's doing my hair to everyone's in exchange for me paying for her to get done at the spa if she wants...she's a BM too. We'll see I Guess

@@Meandhim loving your thread. Your STDs are amazing. After your wedding is done and you're looking for projects to fill your new spare time you should look into opening your own etsy store :)

I have to ask (and sorry if I managed to miss it), any chance you're from isle-aux-morts? I'm not from Newfoundland but my godfather (moms cousins husband) is from there and I've been back with them for come home year twice (at age 5 and 25 lol). I had VERY little expectations when I went at 25 (just broke up with a BF and booked the trip with my fam to clear my head) and had the best time ever! I wish I was going back for it again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
