Hey All.. I just need to vent to someone other than my family!!!

My fiancé's grandpa is a terrible flyer so he wasn't going to come to the wedding. His grandma is though. Both of my grandparents are older and hate the hot weather so they are not coming which I am ok with. So I needed to find someone to room with Kody's grandma. Well my uncle passed away last summer and my family and her have gotten extremely close through the 7 years they were together and even more so since they passed so we just invited her and she wanted to come. She is 80 or so years old and so is Kody's grandma so I thought how perfect - they would get along amazingly.

Last week, I found out that Kody's Grandpa has decided that he wants to come now. So...now I have to figure out someone for him to stay with or, room my aunt by herself. Either way.. my aunt now has to pay $1000 more. They are all coming for 2 weeks. They all either pay more to room together in a 2 bedroom or just my aunt pays more.

What do I do? I feel as though my aunt is getting the short end of the stick. Why should she have to pay $300 more??

Am I overreacting?

I'm starting this post over. As my last one just wasn't coming out right.

I see it from both sides. It's tough because she doesn't have a plus one and with that a singles cost is just more - name of the game with most places. But I see your struggle to help as she is older in age.

Ideas? 1. Maybe have her find a travel mate (neice/nephew, someone's grand kid, friend) 2. Ask if the grandparents would pay a bit more to have a suite with her 3. Maybe you or your parents can help pay the difference?

Usually I would leave that up to them but given the age I see your point. Our singles knew their cost would be higher that's why we offered everyone a plus one.

Hi @@Smellsey that's a tough one. Is your fiancé's grandpa coming for sure? Does he know that your grandma already has a roommate? Maybe he's changed his mind so she's not alone.

I agree that it's hard to have your aunt pay more when everything was already worked out in terms of rooming!

@@calgarybride2015 I agree that the singles have to realize that by coming as a single - you pay more. But because I roomed her with Gramma - We sort of guaranteed her the doubles price. So to go back and take that away from her - I think is extremely unfair.

@@Wafflesmom yes - the grandpa is coming for sure and he is so excited. I don't want to make him feel like a burden.

I am trying to find someone for my aunt to room with. if I can't - I think my fiancé and I and my parents are going to pay the difference for Audrey. I just don't think it is fair to guarantee her a price and then go back and ask to pay more.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
