Well I guess I screwed this up :( just checked with my travel agent and last day to pay is May 7th and when I ordered the invitations I set the RSVP deadline at June 1st. Hopefully this doesn't confuse people!

@jsparrow10 I see you are from Akron. I live not for from there near Cleveland. And go to school in Kent. Small world :)

I went to school in Akron and live a little outside Cleveland too!

A website or emails might be something to look into since you have two different groups and deadlines.

We aren't even doing invitations! We sent out electronic STDs in August for our June wedding and we'll continue to send email reminders and information to our invitees. We're just trying to keep things simple and, with only a couple exceptions, our invitees are savvy enough to use our website.
So, I think you can do whatever you want!  ;)

@beckys98, what program did you use to send electronic save the dates? My fiance and I had a whole discussion about this. I'm traditional and believe invitations and other paper products for a formal / important event should be in paper form. Despite having a casual beach wedding, a wedding is a formal event. Well, him being in IT he suggested an electronic invite. He said its what Microsoft does... After dealing with an online company who printed photos ( the company did a good job, they were just crazy expensive! $60.00 for 10 5x7's. Then the post office lost the package! We ended up going all the way up to the assistant Post Master General before we got answers), I may be willing to go electronic for save the date or to at least announce our wedding website. Plus electronic is cheaper.

Hi @Surfingsara - I originally thought we'd do printed for sure. But it IS expensive! Plus, we don't have anyone's addresses, our guests are internet savvy, and we were trying to get the STD out fast with the website and booking information. Plus we could see who opened it and link directly to our website, which we hoped would increase the likelihood that people would go to it.

I actually paid $15 for a designer on Etsy to create a custom STD as a jpeg and uploaded it to Celebrations.com. Paperless post is also really nice. They animate the email so there is an "envelope" in the email that the recipient clicks to open. Both sites have great templates you can use, or you can upload an image like we did.

In the RSVP section on our website we asked people to enter their mailing address. That way we have it for a pre-travel mailer and thank you notes when the time comes.

I did the same thing about having everyone enter their mailing address and contact information for everything. I'm even asking people who RSVP to our at home reception to do this, especially for sending thank you notes.

I'm planning on sending our invites out about 6-8 months in advance and then only sending pre-travel mailers to those guests who book (probably a month or two before we actually leave).
