@@SusanMarie813 Ask to see the rooms, look for cleanliness not only in the hotel but in the restaurants, the food presentation, the guests (the class of people will vary depending on the resort), take lots of pictures, compare beaches/pools/surroundings (I didn't want a resort in the middle of Playa or Cancun), ask to try some of the food if possible to see what your guests will be eating outside the wedding, activities/entertainment if this is important to you etc etc. Don't just look at the wedding stuff, look at the big picture and ask yourself, If I were a guest who paid thousands to come here, how would I feel? You might also want to ask about policies on outside vendors, guests not staying at the resort, and price changes and make sure you write down exactly what they say so you can quote later if needed.

Hi @@SusanMarie813,

Previous posters hit some great points, I would add the following:

1) What are the back-up options for ceremony/reception settings in case of weather issues.

2) How private are the venue settings for ceremony/reception? Will you be ok with other hotel guests observing?

3) Options for outside vendors is a key point for sure, what is the cost/policy?

4) What are the policies for guests coming to your wedding who may choose to stay at a different resort? (it happens!)

5) What upgrades are available for bride/groom? (Free champagne, spa treatments, etc)

6) Options for decor and the ability to personalize. Most  hotels offer packages that are lovely, but sometimes you want to add your own touch.

And yes, will your guests enjoy the total vacation experience? Lots to think about, wishing you all the best!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
