Welcome Dinner/post Wedding Brunch

Recommended Posts

I haven't put much thought into this but I definitely need to! I know that I don't want to plan many 'official' events. I think many people will just want to relax and do whatever they feel like doing as this will be their vacation. I do like the idea of a dinner/cocktail time the night before since our guests will all be present then. I also don't want to be forced to get up at a particular time for anything the day after, and I'm sure most people will feel the same as they don't know how hard they will be partying at the reception lol I think everyone being at the beach or pool at the same time will be enough. I don't want people to be obligated to do different things while there.

@@LauraM - I never thought about doing a bachelorette thing while in Mexico but I think that's a great idea instead of having something at home! Is this something you yourself planned on or did you and your MOH decide this?

@@Lia33 weve thought about doing our bacherlorette/bachelor parties in Mexico....all our friends are very spread out and we are living in a city away from our hometown. At that point, I think we might want to do a "jack and jill" party where we all just go out as one big group together in town. I think that would be more fun than trying to seperate the groups. I know the guys wanted to go golfing at one point and the girls wanted to go to the spa there as well. And maybe we will do something small here in the states, but it would be fun to go all out at least one night in Mexico

@@nadiakat17 I've heard of the Jack and Jill, but what exactly is it?? If many of you are spread out, it definitely makes even more sense to do it in Mexico. I think it will be cost effective to do it in Mexico - all inclusive food and drinks - people don't have to spend any more money for these events! I will bring it up to my fiancé and see what he says about it and maybe casually mention it to my MOH lol

@@Lia33 Haha a Jack and Jill is basically like a combined bachelor/bachelorette party- essentially it is just going out celebrating the impending marriage . Of course I love a good girls night but I feel like if we were both going to do it in Mexico, why wouldn't we just do it together? Most of my friends coming are in serious relationships/married, so it makes sense that we would all just go out together- plus their significant others are my good friends too! I personally feel like I don't really need a huge traditional bachelorette party- if we only have possibly one night to go out in PV (since my resort is like 30 mins away) I would rather we all have a crazy big time. If I end up having something small here where some of my girl friends could go that would be nice, but at least in Mexico I know everyone will be there! And as I said, us girls could always shop or go to the spa and guys could golf or something while we are there.

@@nadiakat17 I totally wouldn't mind doing it together but highly doubt his friends would go for it loll I would love a combined thing, celebration just having a good time. At some point I will likely have a girls night but nothing crazy. I have a small group of close friends so I will likely keep this with just us (unofficial private celebration) and would like doing something with everyone in Mexico. Let's see what happens!

I plan on having a welcome cocktail party the night the guests arrive. Contemplated having a dinner but I know that depending on the time of their flight they may be exhausted so I didn't want to put much requirements for the first night. Just a quick drink and meeting so everyone can see each other. Other than the ceremony and reception, I don't think we will have many other events. Decided on no post wedding breakfast so everyone can rest and recover. May plan an excursion/night out/bachelorette/party night but only those who wants to attend will of course.

@@Lia33 I actually don't have a MOH =) no wedding party.. however, my fiance and I are considering taking all the guys/gals on a club-tour in cancun. There's various companies that will take you club to club (all inclusive of transport, cover, line-skipping, and drinks) for the night. The guys will do 2 clubs while the girls do 2 different clubs, and then we'll meet up at the end of the night at the same club. We've done this together in the past and it's fun, safe, and a really good deal for the price. It'll be even better with a big group!

@ - Cocktail hour sounds like a good idea. Many of my guests are coming the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding but I don't think everyone will be there yet. I agree - I would definitely like them to be around each other before the actual festivities and will also plan an excursion but probably not for everyone especially if we end up with a high guest list. I know for a fact that most people just want to eat and drink and lounge around lol

@@LauraM - That's a great idea! I was learning about that on another forum also. Sounds fun to have some partying away from the future hubby and then rejoice before the end of the night. I'll have to bring these ideas to FI's attention and see what he thinks. I think his friends will likely push for something totally separate but it doesn't hurt to talk about it!

I'm having a welcome lunch right before the catamaran cruise as a group reservation so that's free. I'm having a rehearsal dinner with all my guests the night before (included in my package) I'm doing a farewell brunch the next also a semi private group reservation.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
