Dw Dress...follow The Rules?

Recommended Posts

I agree!  Pick the dress you want, that makes you feel good and that you want to wear.  The dress I got would not work at many venues, but perfect for a DW in Mexico!  My fiance has always wanted me to wear a backless dress and what better time than our wedding!  This is my dress (minus the strap in the back)....

LOVE that dress.  I had hoped to do a backless dress as well, but I realized quite quickly that a) they are hard to find in Calgary in my price range and B) most are sheath which don't necessarily flatter my body!

Jealous!

Ugh - I'm going to go to sleep fantasizing about your dress @@Sabes44 (is that weird...haha?) I was trying to save money in the dress category (under $1,000) but I may need to reconsider now! :)

I hope you had good dreams about the dress @becky98.  Honestly I never thought I would spend more than $1,000 on a dress but once I saw this one, I knew it was it (before even trying it on!).  There are site's where girls resell their dresses after their wedding.  I saw a few Katie May's on there too, might be an option for a lower price point!

I agree with all of you, pick the dress you love, not what people think you should wear! Everyone showed me typical DW wedding dresses and they were so not me! I wanted ruffles and a dro waist! I ended up with a gorgeous dress that I love that I am slightly terrified about dragging a mountain of sand behind me, but whatever. I'm an allure girl as well, dress is in the link!

@@alwalters625 Dress is beautiful! @@Sabes44 Love your dress also! It definitely does look perfect for a DW!

Has anyone ever done any major alterations to their dresses? Anything like changing the shape in the front to changing the style in the back? I love my dress just wondering if I should do anything else to it to make pop even more. Love the idea of a more open back! Not sure if it's a good idea to do any major changes to a dress

You could talk to a seamstress. I'm changing my back from a zipper and tiny little buttons to a corset. i'm sad to see the buttons go because they look really cute but I like corset backs too. I want to see if I can get anyone who does the corset with the eyelets rather than the loops. I think it looks nicer and the chances of one of those loops coming out when under all that pressure is lower. Who knows, I guess it depends how much the price difference between the two is. I know you can alter the shape of your strapless neckline as well, say from a straight strapless to sweetheart or something like that or add little cap sleeves, etc.

I too started with the chiffon flowing but it wasn't my style. Instead I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero Dress... I'm going with beach elegance. I love it and although it's not a typical beach dress, I think it will perfect for us. Good luck ladies. attachment=29266:ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409428176.623289.jpg]

@@TinkerSofi I'm guessing this types of changes wouldn't be like a typical bridal shop alteration and I would have to look for a seamstress elsewhere? That sounds lovely what you will be doing to your dress!

I'm sure any bridal store or seamstress could do a corset.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
