Honeymooning In Another Country?

Recommended Posts

Is anyone honeymooning in another country? We would like to honeymoon in either Jamaica, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, or the Bahamas. Flights from cancun are incredibly expensive, just wondering how you guys are handling this.

We are getting married in Mexico then going to Vegas for our honeymoon but 1.5 months later. Never considered flying to our honeymoon from our wedding to be honest. Are you in Canada? (On phone can't tell) but if you are it may be more cost effective to fly home as apart of your package and get another package for your honeymoon. Good luck.

Doing a honeymoon later... Way to expensive to go from one tropical local to another in terms of flight. I would either move to another local within Mexico, hop on a cruise (if you can find one that allows embarkation from Mexico) or try flying out of Mexico City.... But prices will still be high!

What about getting a second week at another resort within Mexico - something maybe a bit higher end where you could have your alone time. Or as @@calgarybride2015 said, if you can afford it, fly home from your wedding with your package, then get on a flight to another destination. With the way packages are structured here in Canada, that may be your best bet. Flights out of Mexico are definitely expensive!!

I'm in the US. We are not interested in honeymooning in mexico since our wedding will be our third time in mexico. So, we want something different. We chose Mexico because we're familiar with the area and Palace had the best group perks. We have considered flying home, doing laundry, and leaving out The next day. We are aiming for the 7 free nights from Palace and don't want them to go to waste. They are opening a Palace resort in Jamaica and I'm assuming we will be able to use free nights there as well.

Does Belize have those resorts?  because it's close to Mexico. Just a thought.

@@calgarybride2015 so, I actually Google a map to see what countries are close. I am not familiar with the resorts in Belize but Palace is only in mexico and soon to be Jamaica. I was trying to find a thread on here about belize. Although, I know my fiance really wants to go to Jamaica

Have you considered waiting a while to go on the honeymoon? I feel like since we will be in a tropical place for a week, it would be better to come home for a few months and wait til the winter and then have something else to look forward to!

My fiance's friend is moving to Belize from Canada to work at an AI resort there.  It was on an island 'ambergriscaye' but I don't know much about it.

If your fiance is set on Jamaica why not either fly out from home, or maybe wait a month or two (or more?) so it feels like you got two super trips in one year.

@@calgarybride2015 flying out from home may be what we'll do if we decide not to go with the cost of flights. No, we aren't going to wait, we have a child and that's not feasible for us, especially with the way my vacation works. Our next vacation after the wedding should be a family trip

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
