I am not able to open these :/

I am planning on getting there next May.   Have you already put down your deposit to STD?   I don't feel at ease sending a copy of my id and card #.  I also have had a hard time with getting responses from the wedding planner.

Fill me in on as much as you can :)  How many people are you having at your wedding? And are you doing any DIY decorations?

@@jsimppharmd   We are just doing the beach ceremony there.  Going out for dinner on the town afterwards.  I battled with the idea of a reception, but there is just too much "stuff" to think about, so we opted out of that.

I think bringing your own ipod is a fantastic idea, but I'm guessing if you want someone to control that for you, a dj would be best.

@@Shan1123  have you had any luck with getting fast replies from the wedding cordinator?  And did you book your actual hotel stay with Secrets or a travel agency?

We put our deposit in some time ago, they have yet to charge our card.

It took a while at first, but once we got into a mojo of e-mailing back and forth once per week or so, everything has been going smoothly since.

There is some areas that you need to coordinate with other people at the hotel, as an example- we are hosting a get together at Humitsu the night before hand, so we had to e-mail the chef there with info on our guests. I have had good experiences when working with other staff here- accept for Adriana (the sales manager)- it took her a MONTH AND A HALF to get the group link together

We are having 16 people so far, and as for decorations

We have the "ultimate package" and adding

3 centerpieces, arbor sways, chair bows, tablecloth for reception, we switched the "Mexican trio band" to a saxophone player without issues-

They said that they are planning on moving our flowers and decorations throughout the night to help save us money.

If you are having troubles getting in touch with Carolina- I just send her the same e-mail over, and over, and over until she responds. If I haven't heard from her in a 4-7 day span, I E-mail her again.

The only advise I can really give, is if she has not responded to you yet, assume you have not sent your information- (we lost out on a deal thanks to her not checking her e-mail well enough, we ended up sending our deposit info not once, but TWICE) I just copy the e-mail I previously sent, add anything else that I have thought up since, and send it again. Carolina has been good about getting back to me within a week or so.

You have to remember she is having to plan a LOT of weddings, and unless yours is coming up soon, it will be in a lower priority (unfortunately)

Sorry- I'm having trouble figuring out how to tag people for responses :/

We have decided to go with a saxophone player (my FI made that choice lol) Caroilna says that she is going to book someone and then send us his music to choose from.

Shan1123- I can try to private message you the attachments when I get home later on- Does the site allow us to do that??

If the info is on any of those documents you have, do they show what a "basic" set up is?  I'm thinking we're going to go for the Ultimate package if we have as many guests as we think we may have (10-15 plus the 2 of us).

Also, what will you be adding? Are you adding a photo package? Where will you be having your ceremony? Reception? A dj? or just a soundsystem set up?

I'm wondering if things like, maracas, papel picado decor and small things like that would be extra.  Trying to figure if I should purchase these before time.

Thanks!!!

Also, when did you send out your RSVPS? and how long in advance do you want them to be sent back to you before you plan your budget/package?   This is what I'm having a hard time with.

The basic setup includes white chair covers for all of the chairs, an aisle runner and white drapes that go over the canopy. We are having 17 total for our wedding, the maximum without being charged more is 20 people total (including the bride and groom)

Also, what will you be adding? Are you adding a photo package? Where will you be having your ceremony? Reception? A dj? or just a soundsystem set up?

g We changed the "Mexican Trio Band" to the saxaphone player without charge; We also added blue arbor drapes instead of white, and blue chair bows for the seats.

We will be having our ceremony on the beach (in the sand), our cocktail hour will be in the garden by the deck, and our reception will be on the deck. We are not having any music during the ceremony (peace and quiet :))

They have an ipod setup I believe that comes with the package.

I'm wondering if things like, maracas, papel picado decor and small things like that would be extra.  Trying to figure if I should purchase these before time.

Little decorations may cost you extra, We requested a tiquilla bottle to have people sign as our guest book, and I'm unsure if they are charging extra for it or not. We ended up ordering our "favors" from an art store in Jalisco, and they make rain shakers and maracas for a very reasonable price. We have ordered them, but I am unsure how they came out. (she is supposed to send me pictures) The woman seems very nice and honest, She didn't feel comfortable shipping my things to the resort due to the corrupt postal system, so she is going to transport them for me!

If you decide to do something else, I would bring it with you on the plan. Shipping can take a lot longer than anticipated, and you can't be sure that all of your things will arrive to the resort in one piece, or at all.

Thanks!!!

Also, when did you send out your RSVPS? and how long in advance do you want them to be sent back to you before you plan your budget/package?   This is what I'm having a hard time with.

We sent out the invitations a year in advance so everyone would have plenty of time to prepare financially. We expected RSVP no more than 6 months in advance, and booking to be done 3 months before the trip (we still have 2 left). Adriana (sales manager) can create a link for you and your group to use, but it ended up taking forever, and no one actually used it!!! I advised my guests to go through expeida, priceline etc and package to help save money.

Hi Brides!

I am getting married at Secrets Capri on Sat November 8th (50 guests) and just wanted to warn you that they have a theme night every night except Sat, I believe. So if you are having your reception by the gazebo on a Friday night, you may want to talk to Carolina about noise level, hotel guests, etc. i have a friend who got married there in April and gave me some good advice. I have gone back and forth with Carolina on a lot of things and decided to use outside vendors for just about everything. She's sweet but makes me a little nervous at times because she is so busy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
