Off-Site Reception/ Party Boat

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I will be getting married at GCR on 12/13/14 and I’m having a bit of an issue regarding my reception. The number of guest that I planned on having is higher than I anticipated and due to this date being so popular all the reception areas have been reserved :-(. My WC offered a small closed off room that can be used but it only holds 40 people with little room for dancing. Problem is I’m going to have about 45 guest and even if my number drops to 40 I don’t want to be in a cramped room.  I was made aware in the beginning that there were no private reception rooms available but again since I was only expecting a small number of people (20-25) I planned on just having a semi- private reception in one of the restaurants then hitting a club afterwards. Now I can’t have the semi-private because I have more than 30 people :-(.

Ok, sorry for the long rant, but with all that being said...Does anybody have any suggestions for an off-site location or companies that rent out party boats for private events? I tried searching the forum but I came up with a lot of old results. I have reached out to a couple of catarman boat companies that I located up here, but I’m still awaiting responses. All info will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

You could look into hosting it at a restaurant in town somewhere? Or does your hotel have sister properties where they can accommodate you? Could they not do a private event for you on the beach? Or are there other weddings already using all on site locations with literally NO options unless you leave the resort? I would really push the WC at your resort to have them help you... you are bringing them a lot of business- they should be able to assist in giving you some options- especially if you are thinking of taking your reception business elsewhere!

Thanks for the suggestion kmk...

They do have a sister resort, but it's booked up as well. I have been going back n forth with my WC but she's saying there is nothing she can do because they don't have the space available. She even suggested I change my date   Uhh NO..

@@Tanya81 Are you looking to hold just a reception at a non-resort private venue or possibly both your ceremony and reception? There are lots of awesome private options here in Cancun. We've shot on a yacht, private venues just 15-20 minutes from Cancun, Isla Mujeres and even a private home someone rented for their wedding here in the hotel zone. If you're looking for just your reception a private home or boat would likely be the best options.

You can look through some of our Cancun weddings on our Facebook page or website to get some ideas. All of the images below were taken at private venues...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
