Hi girls

question- the styles of dresses I am looking at would not look good with a lace up corset back and I want the sleek look of either zipper or button back to the dress, however I am not keen on wearing garments underneath. (Spanx etc). I have read that some have had 'Hidden corsets" made inside their dresses that allow you to cinch in a little with eye/hook closures and zip up your dress and allow for a smooth look with full support. Anyone have experience with this? Did it work as well as it sounds? I just dont want to wear a separate long torso bra or corset under my dress unless it is built in. I dont want to worry about pulling at it all day, or it being visible through the dress!

TIA!

I tried on a few of those and they did actually act like a corset! It had this inner flap thing that you hook together before you zip it up. But I found the dresses with the lace up back are probably the most flattering on the bodice because they are pulled so super tight. The inside corset thing worked, but it didn't quite give the same effect. BUT it is still super flattering.

The dress I ended up with ended up not having this, and I've been thinking about what undergarments to wear. My stomach is relatively flat (haha), but it doesn't quite compare to what a corset does to it. BUT i will say, the ones without either are a lot more comfortable to wear - something to take into consideration with the heat.

One of my runner up dresses had what you're talking about. It's the Essence D1541 dress. It looks great in pics but I went against it because the fabric wasn't quite as nice to me in person. But the bodice fit beautifully and it still really holds you in without the corset back.

Thanks!! Yeah, I have a pretty flat stomach too, but wanted just a tiny bit more support since I want my figure to show and not worry about standing straight and sucking it in all day! HAHA... the dress you referenced is very similar to ones I am looking at! Im actually leaning toward a custom dress based on designer inspirations after reading the WHOLE thread about knock off dresses (Yes, the whole thread hahah)... after all that reading, I was sold... mainly cause I can order something in the exact design/sizing and fabrics I love... so I can take parts of various designs and make a version just for me. (Plus I cant argue with the savings in price!)

I didn't even consider going the custom dress route, but perhaps I should have! There were definite elements of many different dresses I loved. I don't know much about clothing though so choosing fabrics would be hard for me. I think I'm also just impatient and wanted to have the dress settled quickly. I dragged my mom and MOH to 6 dress shops in 7 weeks and I think we're all happy it's over :D

The ruching/bodice of that dress is SO flattering. Is that what you're planning on doing with yours? That's one thing I wish my dress had a bit more of, but I'm ultimately very happy with what I ended up with.

The inner corset is definitely a viable option for you then! I do wish mine had something with a bit more support - it has very light boning.

My wedding dress has one of those inner corsets. Its awesome. Makes me look super slim through the waist. Mine is zipper with buttons on the back. I personally don't really love the look of the corset back, so this was the perfect option for me as I was able to have my button back, but also be able to cinch in my waist.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
