thanks! Ok good, I was wondering if they need like a year notice or something like with most other wedding related things hahah.

To be honest I have no freaking idea. I just assumed they did this in their spare time. I will email one tomorrow just incase!!!

Me too! Good question!! I plan on just having the person do it at our house night before we leave. If we need witnesses my MoH lives 2 blocks away and her/her hubby can sign and be done with it. No ceremony or anything... Not telling anyone either. So cheap is all I need!

Exactly! For us it will be just our immediate families (well, half of his because his mom and sister are in Colombia) and we will probably have it at my house. I want to get married on Aug 4 because 4 is my lucky number haha (so stupid I know)

I never really thought about this. On TV they always say they are getting married at city hall. So I just thought I would go down to city hall. But now that I think about it...where exactly in city hall would I go??? Guess I better start looking into this as I wanted to do it in December.

In Alberta you can't do that you have to hire a justice of the peace. The whole city hall thing isn't legal here and only happens in the movies sadly!

Thank goodness I read this thread. I honestly hadn't put that much thought into the legal wedding. I'm learning now I am going to have to do a bit of planning now. I also hadn't really thought about the cost. It looks like it cost on average $200 to hire someone to do,the wedding ceremony.

List of commissionaires in Alberta.

I emailed the two nearest my house and will let you know once I hear back from them.

Side links have everything you need to know to get married in Alberta. Pretty informative.

I LOVE the one that we chose, she has been amazing and takes care of everything for us. it's 260.00 but that's for ALL the fees and she takes care of getting everything in order, filing it and doing all of that so we don't have anything to worry about (which is awesome because we have enough on our plate as it is!)

Hmmm sounds good @@Mrsktobe. I didn't expect to have to pay that much to be honest for NO ceremony and just 5 minutes to sign the paperwork and send it in. But if that's standard I guess we will bite the bullet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
