Engaged at Azul Beach Resort

Recommended Posts

Proposal Date: 10/08/2013 Location: Azul Beach Resort - Cancun/ Riviera Maya We were there for our friends wedding. My boyfriend was the best man in the wedding. Everyone there knew that my boyfriend was planning on popping the question. Originally, he wanted to ask while we were away on vacation. At first he was going to do it in Disney World. However, once he found out his best friend was getting married in Mexico, he changed his mind and wanted to do it on the beach. He had asked the bride and groom if they would mind him doing the proposal during the week of their wedding at the resort. He was going to do it a few days after the wedding on the beach. The bride and groom were so excited that they told him to do it at the wedding and helped him plan it out. Everyone that came to the wedding knew what was going to happen, except the bride's father. At the reception dinner the bride's father asked me if we were married. I had said no, that we weren't engaged just dating. He then said "oh, don't worry he's giving you the ring tonight"! My boyfriend started choking laughing and the groom's face was priceless. Right after the bride's sister came over and started speaking to her father in spanish. She was telling him that my boyfriend was actually planning on asking tonight. Soon after that the father of the bride got up from the table and walked off. He was acting all freaked out. When I asked what was wrong, the sister told me that he was still shaken up that his daughter is married. However, it was actually due to almost spilling the beans on my engagment. After dinner, they had a cocktail reception with cake and dancing. It was time for the bride to toss the bouquet and I caugh it. Then it was the boys turn to catch the garter. It fell into the sand and my boyfiend just walked up and picked it up. They all then asked us to dance. My boyfriend while planning this with the bride and groom had asked them to play certain songs. We began dancing as they played "This Years Love" by David Gray. As we were dancing there on the beach; towards the end my boyfriend kept saying "I think this is a set up". Then as the song ended, my boyfriend got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife! Once I said yes they began to play "Marry You" by Bruno Mars. It was the perfect proposal with all our friends there and helped him plan this. I just can't wait to see the video of it!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
