Help! Memories Grand Bahama Advice?

Hello, so my fiancé and I have been trying to decide on a destination for our April wedding for over a year. We had found a couple resorts we liked but changed our minds. We are now looking to book Memories Grand Bahama Beach Resort and Casino but the problem is...the resort isn't open yet! The resort is scheduled to have a soft openning in November and open to guests in January. Our guests have limited budgets so we have decided to take advantage of the new resorts good price. Is this a bad idea??? Does anyone have sny more info on this resort? I'm ready to book but wanted to hear from you ladies. Thanks!!! Amanda

you would be working under a lot of stress if you did that... have you thought about looking at  other resorts in that area?

Yes I've looked at other resorts but if this one is as great as they describe it will be I'm willing to take the risk as I did t find anything that I really loved in my guests $1500 budget. Fingers crossed cause I think we might book today...yikes!

Did you end up booking at Memories Grand Bahamas? I am in the same boat as you and wanted to take advantage of the inexpensive fares. It looks like we might book there for June or July, 2014!! Let me know if you decided to book as well and if you have any more information on the resort!

Hi there! Did you end up booking the Memories? I am in the same boat as you right now - thinking of booking this resort as it is inexpensive for the Bahamas since it is new. Definitely risky with no reviews, etc. but I think we may go for it too! Let me know if you booked and if they gave you any more information!

Hi Kate! Yes we ar booked at Memories and getting married on April 2nd. What date are you looking at? We have 55 guests booked at ths point and no I don't know much. Basically I have been told by the wedding planner that they will not know any details until the opening date in January. She did however provide me with tentative wedding packages which I can email you. I have been researching photographers for months know and yesterday I was informed that my fave photographer on the island was hired by Memories. Th photographer is Mango Tree Media and we have already been communicating. This is all I know right now but I have been reassured that they will make sure everything is beautiful! I'm actually looking forward to the surprise of it all. Would love to work together!

I am so happy to have someone to discuss with!!  There really isn't even any information on the Freeport area here as it is mostly Nassau. I think we are going to pull the trigger and book today for a July 1st wedding. Travel dates would be June 28-July 5th.

 

I did get the basic wedding packages from the Memories wedding planner. I just thought that maybe once you booked, she would provide more information. That's okay though. I am kind of happy I won't have that information until January because I can focus on things like invitations etc now and it won't be too overwhelming. 

 

I am very excited to hear that there is a good photographer in the area as that was something I was worried about. Do you need to book directly with Mango Tree or is it all done through the resort?

 

Can I ask where you are flying out of? Did you book with Sunwing (I thought I remembered reading that they have the exclusive rights to sell packages for this resort)? If so, I have a couple of questions for you on the group booking process, if you don't mind.
