New Bride 2014 - Where to go that's fabulous and doesn't cost a fortune!

Hi everyone! I recently found this site and I can see it's going to be very helpful! I just got engaged and I've spent a lot of time looking at individual places in Mex/Hawaii/Carib, but it's so overwhelming. Any tips on how to narrow down a place that doesn't break the bank for guests yet would put on a totally wonderful and professionally planned wedding/reception/extra shenanigans? I'm really focused on it being not too expensive so I can get as many people to come as possible.

Thank you!

Hi there - welcome to BDW!

You can definitely find a wide range of prices for the resort, and then the wedding add ons can be as much or as little as you want (and still be beautiful and elegant).

I would suggest working with a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings. They will be able to work with you to find the perfect resort for you and your guests. Wright Travel Agency can help you narrow down the options - there's a link in my signature if you'd like to learn more about them. Good luck and happy planning!!

Welcome to the forum Coolcalcium and Congrats on your Engagment !!!

The Riviera maya in Mexico is a gorgeous area and offers wide range of resorts but also Off resort locations for a wedding.

As a wedding planner here i would advise you on the following when it comes to finding the right location for your wedding:

By asking yourself what are your expectations for your location,

Resort o private Beach ?

are you looking for an all inclusive Resort?

must is it be a family friendly or adults only?

is beach more important to you?

Feel free to ask as anything and we will be happy to help

you can send us an email to: [email protected]

Happy Planning !!

Finding a cost friendly spot can be tricky. A couple of things to think about: 1) where are you flying from? And where are most of your guests flying from? This often has a large impact on locations you may choose. If you live on the east coast, flying to Cancun, Mexico or Dominican Republic may be good options. Live on the west coast? Maybe Cabo, Mexico, or Vegas? Try a couple of online travel sites to just get an idea of cost. Then find a good travel agent who you can depend on to help you narrow down the search for a specific resort.

2) another thing to consider is when are you planning on getting married? Time of year, and the high/low travel season prices can affect your prices. If you have to travel during March break, Easter or Christmas holidays, it will be more expensive than in the low travel season.

Sometimes narrowing down your window, for when you want to travel will help you plan for where you will go! Good luck.

Check out the link below for Wright Travel agency- all they do is specialize in destination weddings, and they could be a huge help in finding your dream location!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
