Dreams Puerto Vallarta Brides 2012- 2014

Recommended Posts

Hi Brides!

So excited that there is an updated thread on Dreams PV!! I am still very early in the planning process, but Dreams PV is my #1 choice and I think my FI and I are almost 100% set on this resort.

I had some quick questions for all those that are bringing DIY decorations, as this is something that I want to do, and will play into my final decision! To what extent is Dreams letting you bring decorations - i.e. what types can you bring and are there any restrictions (outside of the fake rose petals) with centerpieces, hanging signs, garland, (I may even want to bring my own burlap table runners) etc.? Also, with those decorations, who will be setting them up the day of your wedding - will Dreams handle or are you assigning one of your friends/family to the job? I know destination weddings will make me need to "let go" a little, but I want to have some handle on what my day looks like ;)

Also - is anyone using Dazzling Details?? Just wondering how your experience was and what the costs are like?

Looking forward to following this thread and hearing more about all the upcoming weddings!!

I am also pleased to see an updated forum. I just booked out date with Dreams and am beginning to sort out all the details. All of your thoughts and details have truly helped me make some cost-effective decisions! I am still trying to decide if we will bring our own photographer or use one in the area. Photo Shoots looks great! Aslo, considering the cost of the Decor Packages at the resort I will likely be bringing my own decorations.

Does anyone know if you can reserve the Seaside Grill for the reception? I have had my eye on that location since I started looking for resorts after we got engaged.

Thanks for all of your help ladies!

Hey!

Congrats and welcome!!!! When do you think you will be getting married at Dreams? (2013? 2014?)

I inquired about what a fee would be for Dreams to set up for me, and Eleane responded with $150 for them to set up. Honestly, that is nothing in comparison to the cost of their decorations, or the stress of putting it on yourself/ family member. When I saw that number I immediately thought "done!". I have sent my TA all of my emails with Dreams though, so he can work his magic on hopefully bringing down some of the costs of things, so I will keep everyone updated on whether Dreams is willing to reduce their pricing if pushed. :)

I tried to inquire with Dazzling Details, as I did see some of their work. I never heard back from them, and I realized it was an expense I just didn't want/ need. I plan on using a lot of the natural environment, and just bringing my own decorations to spruce it up.

I am excited to see how everyone's weddings go this year, as mine is still sooooooo far off. I cannot wait to get back to Dreams though. I know everyone will have the BEST time. !!!!

So an update on my wedding plans thus far.

Finally sat down with the parents to discuss budget and guest list. We wanted to top out our invites at 40 people. And maybe have 30 show up, which we were fine with. Should have known that wouldn't work at all. Looks like we are inviting everyone (roughly 80 people), and hopefully only 40 show up. It upsets me a bit, because my nice intimate, close friends and family wedding, filled with lots of jokes and in-formalities, might be now a more formal, impressing our long lost cousins kind of affair.

Our budget just got thrown way out into space. Trying to do this under 20 grand has now easily doubled. HOWEVER, I did impose that any of the guests our parents added to our list is ALL on them. So STD, invite, OOT bag, additional guest charge, and any extra costs that I now have to incur because of this much larger list, is all on them. I refuse to pay for people I didn't want to be there, and who I am now being forced to change my entire concept of my wedding for.

Our TA is amazing, and his estimate of what a package will be from Toronto to PV, is already less than we anticipated. He is getting me quotes for everywhere our guests will be coming from, as well as double checking the dates for our wedding.

In discussion with FI over the weekend, we have decided to forgo just renting the sound system, and will be hiring the DJ for the night. He doesn't want to put MC responsibilities on any of our friends, and just wants everyone to enjoy the night. Which I get and understand. It's only a couple hundred more, and in the grand scheme of things, that is NOTHING in comparison to all of our other costs now.

Hey! I am very new hear and just had a few questions, we are very set on the Dreams PVR, my cousin got married at Dreams Peurto Adventuras and it was so amazing we are definetly set on the dreams resorts. Now we are planning small wedidng (both of our second) and looking for mid november. I have emailed the wedding coordinator weeks ago and again today , did any of you have trouble getting ahold of them? My aunt is a travel agent and looked into rooms ect but beacuse we are under 10 rooms we dont qualify for great deal, but i cant book until I know for sure we can get a wedding on those dates. Just frustrated. The resort got back to us asap regarding the rooms , as we have 4 children we wanted adjoining but they couldnt confirm or talk to us about actuall wedding?? Thanks!

Hey gals, well my dreams of having the reception at the Seaside Grill are crushed! It is an extra $2000! However, after looking at more pics of the Terrace I think that will be just as great! Does anyone know if they will reduce the cost of the package if you bring your own photographer? And also what if you forgo the cocktail hour? I could certainly ask Fatima and she has been wonderful about getting back to me quickly, but I know you all have likely asked these questions before.

And, Jenny, I know how you feel about the undesired expanding guest list. We are dealing with the same thing with "long-lost" relatives tht we are expected to invite and are paying for the wedding ourselves.

Hey,

From my experience with Eleane, it doesn't seem like they are negotiable on the price of the package. I think the only way you can forgo the cocktail hour is if you go with the Dreams Wedding in Paradise Package. Maybe then you could go with the reception in the Seaside Grill? With the basic package and the $200 for the seaside grill, your paying the same you would get for the Ultimate package, but no cocktail hour.....I don't know, it is a bit sucky that you can't change things around in the package- but like i am sure they would tell us, then just do a la carte if you want something here, or something there, but not this.

ugh, I don't know how you are handling the expanding wedding guest list and still paying for it yourselves. I would absolutely refuse to budge if I was being told to do something I didn't want to do, and then also being forced to pay for it. I don't know, I guess that is the stubborn part of me, but there is no way someone could tell me I had to do something "for them", but then say "oh, but you have to pay for it". Nope, no way in any way I would do that. Cudos on you for doing that- I guess that is the bridezilla in me. LOL

I agree with Jenny2014 I have asked about making changes to the packages and its been a firm no. They have been great in terms of getting back to me but I agree I think they could do with being a bit more accomodating in terms of changes, but what can ya do! I did ask the photographers though if they would be willing to photograph a different event if we brought or hired our own photographer for the wedding and they said no problem. So you could always have them photograph your rehersal dinner or if you wanted a Trash the Dress or even if you were going to do a bonfire! Sounds like they are willing to come and do any event!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
