After the movie we sat just talking until finally he had to leave because of work (he works the overnight shift). The next day we made plans for our second date (trip to central park!). He asked me out after a hockey game on March 16th 2010 (my first hockey game ever!) After a year and a half of dating I moved to NJ to live with him. Best decission of my life. On our 3yr anniv. he made plans for us to go to the central park zoo. Only problem was we realized it was the weekend of the st patty's parade and neither of us wanted to deal with those drunks so he canceled the plans and made reservations at the Revel resort in AC. We had the top floor suite. A little before midnight the night before our anniv he told me to go get some ice so we can have a few drinks and go out. I went to get the ice and the damn ice machine was broken!!! So I had to go to another floor to get the ice. When i walked back into the room there was a line of rose petals that led up to the bed and a huge wrapped box. I walked over and sat down to open the box, inside was a custom made hockey jersey with his last name and the number 16 for our anniv. when I put the jersey down he was standing with the box open and asked me to marry him. PS he recorded the whole thing!!!! Was the best trip ever!!

My FI and I met when I was 13.My father was born in England so that summer my grandmother took my brother and I on a month long trip to get to know where my father was from. I'd been writing letters to my cousin and was excited to meet her and her friends. When I'd finally reached my dads home town and met my cousin she introduced me to Danny, instantly I was blown away (as much as you can be at 13 I suppose lol) that evening us and a few others played truth or dared me to kiss Danny. It was my first kiss and it was magical (I now know it was his first too) Over the next couple days we all went to the beach an showed me around Danny and I sneaking kisses when no one was looking. Unfortunately that was the end of my trip, I had to go back home to Canada. Over the years I never forgot about Danny and we would briefly talk (msn, MySpace, Facebook) but nothing serious. Until last year my best friend and I decided to do a big Europe trip. About 8 months before I sent him a message telling him I'd be visiting (hoping he'd want to see me) he was in the military now but said he couldn't miss the chance to see me, he'd figure it out. We hadn't talked much over the years but now with technology we started texting...alot. We had an app that allowed us to call each other for free and we would spend hours on the phone. In February he was getting a weeks leave from work and he decided he couldn't wait until June to see me again. He flew out and we had the most amazing week and began dating. Over the next few months we'd fly to see each other when we could. He managed to get two weeks off for both our birthdays in November and I was so excited he was coming. The night before I went to pick him up at the airport my father said he would prefer to take me (I have Crohn's disease and had been very sick) I thought it was a bit odd but allowed it. After what felt like he was the last person to get off the plane. He finally walked through the airport door and gave me a huge hug (where he had first hugged me 9 months earlier) all of a sudden he dropped down on one knee told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with my and had the most beautiful ring. I Ofcourse crying said yes and my dad had the whole thing recorded. Now we are planning to get married may 19, 2014 in Jamaica and also planning where we will live. I know it's long but that's my story :)

All these stories are so nice, we could all make a romance novel :).

One of my friends had invited me out one day to smoke some hookah. His friends invited him too and the second I saw him I remember telling my friend "that guy Juan is hot". Apparently he was thinking the same thing when he saw me because when I get home I had a facebook friend request from him. We talked online for some time but then I found out he had a girlfriend so I backed off because I was developing feelings for him. Fast forward 4 months. I went out with one of my friends and he was there. I thought I was over him but the second I saw him I realized that I still really liked him. He had broken up with his girlfriend now, the only problem was that I was seeing someone else. I couldn't ignore my feelings so I broke up with my (now ex-) boyfriend to be with Juan.

We've been together for almost 5 years. This last January, I decided to throw a surprise birthday party for his 30th birthday. He doesn't celebrate birthdays so I was really anxious that he would like it. About 3 hours before the party he calls me, he had found out about the party. Then that night as we were dancing he says "I need them to turn off the music, i have to say something". I thought he was going to thank my friend and I for planning everything, but after he did that, he dropped on one knee. I was speechless trying to keep it together so I couldn't say anything, I just hugged him and moved my head to say yes. The best part was having all our friends and family there to witness it. As it turns out, he had planned a surprise dinner for me that day, he was going to come and pick me up when he found out about the party so he had to cancel all his plans. I set out to surprise him, but he ended up surprising me.

My proposal was definitely not what I had imagined either, but I think I would have loved it no matter what. This just makes for a far more interesting and cute proposal story :).

Yes! I absolutely love it! I am pretty sure my fiance did not plan that his proposal would be the way it was but everyone just laughs at the story now and I am glad that it happened exactly as it did.

My Partner and I built our relationship on Balboa Island CA. He lived there prior to meeting me at the Landmark Steakhouse in Corona Del Mar CA. Our first date was spent on Balboa Island at a restaurant called the Newport Landing. Since then, we spent everyday together. We spent an hour everday watching the sun go down and watching the boats pass by on the water. It was sort of a daily ritual for us. After two years, Trevor started to arrange plans with his parents to propose. Mind you, my father had been in the hospital for a few weeks and we were worried about his health and if he would be able to recover. My mind was panicked those few weeks. With my fathers situation, Trevor decided to ask my dad for his permission to marry me while he was in the hospital. With my father's approval, Trevor quickly purchased a ring and proceeded with the planning.

He decided to use his Family's Yacht for the proposal. He spent a full day painting a long banner with the words "Will you Marry Me Melody?" Funny story, he actually knocked himself out with the ceiling fan when trying to hang it up on the wall. Left him a big scar on his forhead for weeks.

One Sat Morning, Trevor took me to the mall, all while staying in contact with his parents who were already on the boat. He was pretty clever to get me out of the mall as he did and drove to balboa island. He sat me down at the harbor, and just as I sat down, the yacht passed by with the banner on it, his friend who came up running behind me yelled at me to turn around and when I did, Trevor was already on one knee with the ring. Everybody at the harbor started clapping and cheering and our friends were there as well. He pulled it off so well!!!!

To make the proposal even more perfect, my dad who was suppose to be in the hospital was waving to me on the boat. I was in tears! Come to find out, his surgery went perfectly well and he was restored to health. We cruised the harbor for a few hours. All the boat honked their horns and yelled congratulations. I felt so special! We had dinner with our family afterwards and were especially surprised by our gifts! Wedding bands for the both of us :)

Couldn't have been a better proposal. Feel that I'm the luckiest bride.

aw your story brought tears to my eyes. that was so touching and beautiful. congrats
