We too are doing a symbolic ceremony.. Will people notice the difference between civil vs symbolic? We have chose to not tell anyone the difference and let them think it's all legal. :o) A few people flipped out when we mentioned a comment about symbolic, so we aren't getting into that discussion.

Hi Ladies,

First and foremost, congratulations on your engagement! You have picked an amazing property. Majestic Elegance is beautiful.

If you are opting to have a symbolic ceremony in destination, make sure to advise your wedding planner that you want it to look as legal as possible. The ceremonies are virtually the same, so you do not need to worry about friends and family questioning the authenticity. Please note that you will be required to bring proof of marriage to the hotel coordinator in order to have a symbolic ceremony at the Majestic.

Have you considered having Pastor Rick York perform the ceremony? He is a retired Pastor from the US who performs symbolic ceremonies in Punta Cana. His ceremonies are beautiful and he is very flexible with adding any elements you would like to incorporate. His services are an additional cost, paid in cash on the day of the wedding, but, he is well worth it!!

Happy Planning!

Thanks for the response and the information! I looked into Pastor York, I believe he was 300 + day pass. Can anyone else comment on this, I'll have to find my emails with him.

I just purchased my dress yesterday!!! :o) A brand new bridal store in Georgia was having a season sale and I got to take my dress home with me that day!!.. It will need alterations closer to our date since it's too big though.

My wedding is not until August 2013 either and I will not be dress shopping until November. Most people have told me that most places need around 6 months if you need to have your gown ordered. So, I would say we have plenty of time :)

When in August are you getting married? Mine will be August 24th!

My date is August 5th! I made an appointment for next month but I'm so anxious to start trying on dresses I wish I had made it a few weeks earlier lol. For now I've made a list of possible dresses that I want to try on when I do go. I heard I would need 8-10 months for a destination wedding though, hopefully its also not so far in advance that I get dress regret later on if new gowns are released.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and congratulations to you all! I'm also looking into the Majestic Colonial for my wedding. My fiance and I went to the Dominican Republic back in August of 2011 and we stayed at the Majestic Colonial. It was beautiful and absolutely fell in love with the place. During our 8 day stay we only saw about 4 weddings. My fiance is from the DR, so his spanish definitely helped a lot. I just don't know where to start! We're looking into late 2013 or early 2014. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. And during your stay in the Dominican Republic, I highly recommend taking the excursion to Saona Island. It's gorgeous! And the catamaran ride back to the main land was amazing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
