2013 Destination Wedding in Cabo

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

My fiance and I just got engaged on June 14th!! Sooo excited to start planning!!!!

We are planning on having a destination wedding in Cabo next year 2013.

I visited the RIU Santa Fe in Cabo last year and absoultey fell in love with the resort and everything around it...

I did witness a brides in weddings dresses running around  when I was there....but I wasn't sure where the RIU allows for ceremonies and receptions...

Has anyone gotten married at this hotel? I welcome all suggestions..does the RIU have their 2013 prices yet??

I've also heard that the DREAMS resort is amazing to..but I dont know where that is in Cabo..

Im open to other suggestions around the Cabo area...doesn't matter if its a 3 star or 5 star resort :)

Also, my fiance has a child: age 3 and she will be my flower girl for our wedding...we would like to look into kid friendly resorts that offer special events, babysitting services....etc for the guests that may or may not be bringing along their children...

Im very new to this and im overwhelmed with where to start planning...i've heard going through a travel agent is a good idea when booking destination weddings...any feedback? We live in a small town in Bonnyville, Alberta, does anyone live in a small town that has had a wedding in mexico, where/how did you start planning...

I welcome any feedback ladies and websites & links that were helpful during your planning.

congrats to all you newly weds out there :)

Hi Tamara, I am getting married at the Riu Palace in May 2013. Congrats on your engagement! The palace is super affordable (as is santa fe). I've read more positive reviews about Dreams than anything else on the forum, but know a girl who got married at Riu Palace last year and had a blast. I think it depends on your budget, your must- haves, and your guests. I want as many people as possible to make the trip, so we picked an affordable resort.

As for the travel agent, I found mine through this site. (Wright Travel Agency). You submit a form and then they contact you and you can ask your questions.

Good luck with your planning!

Congratulations on your engagement! I am getting married at the Dreams Resort in Cabo and highly recommend it. I used this site and personal recommendations to influence our decision to get married at Dreams. I too have a 3 year old daughter, along with my 6 year old flower girl niece, so the Kids Club at Dreams was a selling factor for me. Dreams is located about 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas and 20 minutes from the airport in San Jose Del Cabo. It's what they call the Corridor area of Cabo, the long highway between the airport and Cabo San Lucas. Riu is closer to Cabo San Lucas.

In our research, we also checked out Riu Palace, but decided the atmosphere, especially during the wedding and reception, was nicer at Dreams. In using the travel agent we discovered on this BDW site, Teresa with Vacations for Less, she got such great room rates we have many family and friends going! You can email her directly at [email protected].

Let me know what kind of links or information you are needing and I can share what I have. I am two months away so I have done quite a bit of research and completed most of my planning. Good luck!

Hello and Congrats on your engagement!

I am learning how to use this site so I hope you get my message.

I just recently got engaged on May 25, 2012 :) We are planning a wedding at DREAMS for July 27, 2013. The wedding coordinator Yessica at DREAMS has been amazing and so helpful. Everything feels like it's falling into place.

We looked at RIU too but I was told by a wedding coordinator, that works with both RIU and DREAMS, that RIU was very strict about what vendors are being used and that it's not as kid friendly as DREAMS.

I need a place that is budget friendly and easy to work with and DREAMS has exceeded my expectations so far.

Best of luck to you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
