Bailing Bridesmaid

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping not to have this issue at all. I have two girls, my MOH who has already put her deposit (and I've only known for 2 years, but we are great friends), and my Bridesmaid who lives across the country - is a travel agent and will be booking her own trip, and has not started yet.... But we've been close for 8-some odd years. I know the groomsmen won't bail - they better not!! My step-father was actually my FH's teacher in high school (he was a young teacher) and they ended up being best friends, and then he met and married my mom.... and THEN I met my FH. SO... my step dad is the best man! Haha. And my brother is the second groomsmen... and they've put their deposits. I hope everything works out... I'm sorry to hear about how some people can be so selfish. My girls are so uncomfortable with being the centre of attention, they don't want to even do a speech... so I told them they could do a tandom speech - even though they only just met last week. Lol. The joys of wedding planning!!

I officially think the bridal party is the most horrific and devastating part of my wedding. As I've mentioned, I initially asked 4 girls who all said yes. Late one told me she wouldn't have attended my bachlorette if she knew it was going to be "all about you" and then bailed on the whole wedding leaving her deposit behind. My best friend has a secret and intense fear of flying that no one knew about and cancelled.

So I kept positive and decided it was an opportunity to look at it in a new light and ask a guy friend who I should have put there in the first place but I was set on having girls for some reason. So I asked him and he said yes. Only two days later to get insanely mad that I couldn't give him a ride after work and then sent me a whole string of text messages during work saying he wouldn't be in the bridal party wanted to see if he cancel his payment for the wedding and insinuated he didn't even want to be friends anymore. I know he has some problems some times but there are some things you don't say. Especially to a close friend of 12 years. Needless to say even when we work through it, he wont be in the bridal party. Having your wedding used to threaten you is horrible.

I am done asking people. This experience has been soul crushing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
