Is anyone else doing digital invites? I feel like I'm the only one here!

We've been using Glo for our invites and website, and I cannot express enough how amazing the experience has been so far.  There is a fee (monthly or annually) but you get a website, invitations, as well as RSVP tracking. They have designs available for free, or you can upload your own which is what we decided to do. We had a friend design our stuff.

We're on a tight budget and I just couldn't justify spending so much money on invites. Paying for someone else to make them was too expensive, and I am creative but not crafty so making them myself was out of the question. Plus the cost of postage... ouch!

I'll be honest, I was really nervous about going ahead with the digital invites. I asked one of my girl's what she thought of them, and her response was "TACKY!" Yikes. But then I came to realize that regardless of what you do with your wedding, at least one person will think something is tacky just because they don't like it. So we went ahead.

We had an amazing response! Everyone loved our save-the-dates. Even my fiance's grandmother commented through our website that she thought they were so unique. Not one person has said to us that they thought they were tacky (at least if they're thinking it, we don't know it, lol). I like that they are eco-friendly, that they were totally within our budget, and that we can get in contact with our guests at any time through our website. We're even able to see who's opened their save the dates and when they last visited the website. :)

Anyways, after all that lead up, here's our save the date!! I wanted to share since everyone else is sharing their own save the dates and invites. :)

So if anyone is contemplating digital invites, I say go for it! If anyone wants to see what the save the dates look like to guests (it's an animated envelope), I can screen shot it and share it too.

We sent out actualy STDs but I am leaning towards electronic for pretty much everything else -- real invites are nice but they are costly and usually just end up in the garabage so I definitely think electronic is valid and smart (in this digital age)!

Exactly! I've never kept any of the invitations I've received for weddings. I do keep the nice thank you cards I get from couples, so we'll be doing paper thank you cards. Plus, if any one ever wants a paper invite from us or if we want to keep one for a scrapbook, I can just print it out. Easy peasy.

Electronic is also more reliable than good old Canada Post -- whenever I have to send real mail I'm amazed at how much mail they can lose!

  • 1 month later...

i think this is great , we were planning so many great things, but we only had a very limited time frame to send our save the dates and to put a deposit on  the price, so after many weeks of designing we ended up just sending an email, so i think this is great

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
