I think we are going with Dreams, now what?

Recommended Posts

We are looking between 25-30 guests.

Did you book through a travel agent?

If so, is there one you would recommend?

How does it normally work? Are the guests required to give a down payment and then pay in full closer to the date?

Would you iron out the details before you booked? like if you wanted more flowers, photos, chivalri chairs..etc.

We are booking for a wedding date a year from now. Is that too far in advance?

When did you send out your STD? Did you put a required booking date on them?

TIA for all answers to my questions!

Hello,

I just got back from Cabo.

I went through a travel agent who booked through Delta vacations. This gave my guests the option to put down $150 deposit and pay off the balance 30 days prior to departure. I just went with a loca travel agent. You can look around your city and see if anyone is offering any specials. With Delta vacation, they gave you a rebate of $25 per room that was booked. I also know few travel agencies that offer free package for you if so many rooms are booked.

I don't think it's too far in advance to reserve your wedding date.

I sent out my STD as soon as we reserved our date and finalized the plans. For a destination wedding, I don't think you can be too early. This gives people time to review their vacation time from work and finances. I just reminded our guests that payments had to be paid in full 30 days prior to departure. I did not give them a deadline. However with it being a destination wedding, you pretty much know who will be attending or not pretty far in advance. I had couple people show up at the last minute but one was a friend from Dubai who surprised me.

I got married at the Riu Palace and the WC there didn't communicate with you much until 2 months prior to the wedding. So, don't worry about the details.  You can ask basic questions, but they can create your dream wedding.

I know another bride who is getting married at Riu Palace in 2 weeks but staying at Dreams for their honeymoon. I can see what their experience was at Dreams after they return.

Hope this helped answer some of your questions.

Hi,

I just booked my wedding for October 2013 its never too soon : )

I attended the webinar a few weeks ago. You can expect to start ironing out the details about three months before your wedding. Dreams has a very high demand so they can only start to plan so far out. I would defintely try to book as soon as possible because I orginally wanted June 2013 and no dates were avaliable. I havent booked my room block yet. Im going to post a thread to get some feedback about when would be best to do that and whats the different between booking with the hotel and getting a travel agent. Hope this helps!

You might want to try one of the BDW Travel Agents.  We Specialize in Destination weddings and are Dreams Specialists and can negotiate great group perks.  You can contact us HERE!

We also just hosted the Dreams Los Cabos wedding webinar a few weeks ago.  I will be back down at Dreams to meet with their wedding department in a few weeks.

You can read some of our reviews here: Wright Travel Agency ~ Destination Wedding Specialist Reviews HERE

How does it normally work? Are the guests required to give a down payment and then pay in full closer to the date?   Usually, that is how we do it.  Guests put down a deposit and pay the balance a few weeks before departure.

Would you iron out the details before you booked? like if you wanted more flowers, photos, chivalri chairs..etc. about 2 months before your wedding, you will work closely with the wedding department to finalize your choices, decorations, etc.

We are booking for a wedding date a year from now. Is that too far in advance?  not at all!  the good dates and times book far in advance

When did you send out your STD? Did you put a required booking date on them?i usually recommend people send out a STD with their wedding website address saying they will update the site as they get more details together.  it is also a great way to organize group events, etc.

TIA for all answers to my questions!

Hi Samantha,

A good TA will actually work closely with the hotel.  We work pretty closely with Dreams and I try to do a site visit annually to meet with the wedding department.  Our rates are usually better than directly through the hotel.  You can see many of the dreams brides on BDW work with a BDW travel agent.  You can read some of our reviews here: Wright Travel Agency ~ Destination Wedding Specialist Reviews HERE

 You can contact us HERE!

Also, we have that promotion that if you book your wedding travel through us and attended the webinar you will get a visa giftcard.

    • OMG these are incredible! Seriously blown away by the thoughtful detail you have put into every aspect of your gifts, your guests are going to be amazed! Props to you for adding so many personal touches and putting in so much time to make these gifts amazing!
    • These bags are amazing!! You are so organized and detailed, I am so impressed! I LOVE the Vistaprint stuff you ordered, the logo is so cute, I love your personalization!
    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
