April/May 2013 - DOMINICAN BRIDES

Hey Ladies,

I need some aide!  My finance and I are planning an early April 2013 wedding with 40-50 guests travelling from Toronto.  I have been looking at Dreams La Romana, Melia Tropical in Punta Cana and Iberostar in La Romana.

Any advice?  Help!

I am so lost looking at these wedding packages.  I want to have a 'non-beach' wedding (want sexy shoes!), and want to have a sit down dinner and reception with a Dj; my family likes to have a good time!

Another thing, I do not want BLUE as my decorations, nothing against the colour, its just not for me!  I will be using oranges and corals and would like to keep it to these warmer colours.

I really don't know where to begin as I'm also trying to do this on a budget! :)

Sooo, soooo lost.

Thanks for the help.

Welcome Jade!  I'm from Toronto too and I'm also looking at May 2013 - DR.  I just spoke with a TA the other day.  I'm getting quotes for the following resorts

1. Gran Bahia Esmeralda

2. Majestic Elegance

3. Dreams Punta Cana

4. Riu Bavaro

Have you been to the DR before or any other islands?  I am going with neutrals for my wedding party :)  Are you on Pinterest?  Lots to look at there!

Congrats on your enagament Jade and welcome! This forum is great for DIY projects, and ideas. I think going with orange and coral colors will look great in a destination location. Have you spoken with a TA about the 3 specific resorts you are interested in? They are usually pretty helpful in finding out information about wedding location on resort and options for reception. My TA was also able to contact my WC (on my behalf) with a list of questions about the location and reception options and she got a response in a timely fashion (didn't have to wait weeks). Best of luck with planning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
