Vow Renewal ON the airplane?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I just wanted to get your opinions, see if anyone has ever heard of this.

My husband and I got married in Varadero last March with 24 of our friends and family. We are headed to St. Lucia for our first anniversary this year. We arrive in St. Lucia in the afternoon of our anniversary day. As an afterthought, we just recently thought about doing a vow renewal and have since contacted the wedding coordinator at the resort, however, they can't do the ceremony on the day of our anniversary, but they could at 11am the very next day.

So now we're hesitant, because we're not sure if we want to do it on a day that is not our anniversary, you know?

We thought we could check and see if there's a place in the nearest town that would do a vow renewal for us on the day of...

And then my husband thought, too bad we're in the air at the time that we got married - that is, 11am. But hey, I wonder if the airline would do it - a captain of a cruise ship can perform weddings, can an airline captain as well? And would this particular airline do it?

Has anyone ever heard of this? Wouldn't it be sweet? And different. We are all about being unique. :) What do you think?

while I LOVE the idea of it, i don't think i'd do it.  i just don't  know that i'd enjoy the moment ... planes aren't romantic to me.  maybe because i used to travel every week for work?  but i also agree with really wanting to do it ON the anniversary.  can you find someone (not the resort) that can do it that evening off of the resort?

I think it would be better to do it on your actual anniversary date.  I have never heard of doing it on the airplane, it is a unique idea.  I don't think I would do it, just because I often feel so sick during flying and don't enjoy it at all.  What about waiting another year and doing it next year instead? It will give you an excuse to go on another vacation:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
