I am just in the idea stages of planning a destination wedding.  I was thinking of March of 2013 in Riveria Maya/Playa de Carmen.  But then I realized this will be college spring break season.  Do you think the rates will be higher during this time?  What about the crowds?

I'm sure other ladies on here can answer your question better then i can, but personally i would try to avoid the spring break season. Even though some resorts say that they have a strict "no spring breakers" policy chances are they will still be there.

We stayed in a hotel in the dominican at the begining of march last year, and one area of the resort was like one big high school party....drunk girls being carried to thier rooms, cups and limes all over the pool deck....it wouldnt exactly be the environment i'm picturing for me wedding.

As for the rates, im not too sure if they would be more or less...

I attending a wedding in Playa del Carmen in April 2011- it was the week before Easter, so prime spring break time. We stayed at a All Inclusive Adults only (16+) resort. It wasn't as crazy with spring breakers as I thought it would be. Actually, a majority of the people we met at the resort were vacationing from Europe. I believe that things are more expensive during Feb-April just because it is the high season. If you are looking for budget-friendly, consider moving to November. Rates are much lower then because it is technically the end of hurricane season. Good luck with planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
