Congratulations! When I tell my coworkers that I'm planning a destination wedding they all think it's a great idea, and that if they could do their wedding over again they would have a destination wedding.... If you find a good TA for Aruba please let me know ([email protected])! The ones I have been talking to only do max 5 weddings there a year, and all at the mega resorts. We are more interested in a smaller more cozy site with a more intimate crowd. Initially I thought of Sandals as a great option, but we're planning for hurricane season and that scares me. Good luck with your planning!

First...thank you EVERYONE! So far this site is beyond what I ever thought I could find online. It is ingenious. After much consideration and talk with the Fiance, we have decided we would love to go back to the DR, but stay at a better resort. We are looking into January or beginning of February of 2013. But without prices for those times out yet, it is hard to make a final decision on which resort to go with. So far it is the Hard Rock, Dreams, Excellence, or Paradisus. All are beautfil resorts but I am looking for a bigger resort, that definietely has fun things to do, we are not the quiet type of people and my group will be there to dance, drink, and lay by the pool and beach. Speaking of the beach, that is the main reason I chose to go back to the DR. The beach was AMAZING. The sand is like baby powder without any rocks or pebbles of any sort.

On the travel agent subject, I finally found one that I believe will suite my needs. I am from Michigan and at first was going to go with DestinationWeddings.com for an agent but I really wanted to meet someone in person so I went to a few local agencies and finally found a travel agent that handles many destination weddings and..*bonus* is only 10 minutes from my house. She even stayed open later to help me with information. I am very happy I chose to use a travel agent, she is already starting up a page for my guests and I havent even booked a thing yet. :-)

I have a few days off of work next week and my fiance and I are going away to my parents cottage for a long weekend to discuss all of this. I hope by then we can narrow the hotels down even further. I will keep everyone posted, since I am noticing many people do that here and wow does it help!!

Thank you again for the welcome wishes!!!

I went to wedding last may at the Sunset Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  I would have to say it was only ok.  It was however very affordable for everyone.  The rooms were a little dated and were very few restaurant options. We all booked through the same travel agent and got a 7 night stay for about $1150.00 per person including flights.  Good luck with your searches and destination wedding is definitely the way to go.

After a TON of reviewing, detailing, reviewing, searching, talking, reviewing, etc. we have decided we are going back to Punta Cana but will definitley be staying at a different resort. I would never go back to Grand Palladium.

Jamaica is out for sure. Aruba is too expensive for my guests, so my fiance and I decided that would be our 1 year anniversary trip if we can do it. :-)

Hard Rock Punta Cana, Riu, and Paradisus are my top three...I will keep everyone posted....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
