Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

Wow! 50-60 guests? What an awesome turnout! We're also doing beach ceremony, pier cocktail hour but the foyer for the reception.

Do you girls know if we get to choose table linen colours or other decorations? Or is it just plain white table cloths, napkins, etc?

Hi TealMarie,

From the correspondence I have had with Gloria, the table linens included are just basic white. According to the Additional Items packet she sent me, linens and chair sashes are extra. I think I am going to bring my own. I have found them pretty cheap; significantly cheaper than the rental fees. Gloria provided me with an address I could ship stuff to prior to the wedding. My wedding is pretty small, about 20, so I won't have too much; however, I am doing OOT bags. The OOT bags I plan to bring with in my luggage so I may ship the linens and such as I don't want too many more suitcases than necessary.

Hi Mandy,

That's awesome you are going to have such a big turnout! I have e-mailed Gloria some of my stuff. I chose the pier for both my ceremony and cocktail hour, the Lobster House for reception, and I am doing the Silver package. Having only 20 people, the Silver package seemed more appropriate. I also hired Juan Navarro for my photography. And I am using the DJ (Mannia I think) for the reception. I also e-mailed Gloria my choices for menu and cocktail hour. I still have to do cake and flowers.

I have started working on stuff for my OOT bags... I have a friend who does promo items so he is going to do some of that stuff for me. I got my dress last week. My bridesmaids have their dresses picked out. I have picked out my colors for the wedding and have been looking for table linens and chair sashes online. What are you doing for that stuff? Are you bringing your own or renting?

Hi everyone! My wedding at ERC is set for 6/15!

I have my dress and am doing my first fitting this weekend!  I haven't chosen colors yet but I'm taking some dress sash samples with me to the fitting and hopefully will narrow it down.  I want bright, tropical colors, but I can't choose between pink (how pink?!), turquoise (how bright?!), purple (light or dark?!) melon orange (is that tacky?!)...this is tough.

I've been emailing back and forth with Gloria for a few months, and she's sent me all the options for everything.  I've chosen the locations: beach for the wedding, Las Olas for the cocktail hour, and Barcelona for the reception.  We are not using a DJ, and instead are bringing a big Bose-type music player.  My aunt is a photographer and a guest at the wedding, so she'll be doing our photos.  We've chosen the menu we want for cocktail hour and dinner, but I just need to send it to Gloria.  She sent me pictures of decoration/flower examples at the beach ceremony but I'm wondering what the price differences are for the different options?  I am planning to bring my own table linens and chair sashes, since it's soooo much cheaper than renting there.  I've narrowed down the choices for table centerpieces, but still haven't chosen one.  Is it obvious yet that I suck at making decisions? lol

We are expecting 15-20 guests and have the Gold package.  Our ceremony is at 11 am...I wanted to choose the least warm part of the day, because I have really long, really thick, really curly hair and it can get sweaty under here haha...I also chose the early time because it felt like we could get the ceremony out of the way and then have a good amount of time for photos with the sun high in the sky, and be able to include our guests in pics without pressuring everyone on time.  Since our photographer is my aunt I want her to be able to enjoy herself too.  But now that I'm seeing everyone's beautiful evening/sunset lighting photos, I'm kinda jealous of those of you with the later ceremony time!  Hopefully I can get some like that too, and of course the reception is in the evening so lots of photos will be taken all day. :)

I think with my hair being the way it is, I have too much anxiety about the hair stylists there knowing what to do with it, so I've been working with a curly hair stylist here to find a 'do I like, and I'm just going to do my own hair, with my mom's help.  I'm also prepared to do my own makeup, because I'm pretty particular about it, but I haven't decided for sure yet.  Has anyone that's gotten married at ERC done a makeup/hair trial with the stylists there BEFORE their wedding day?  We will be arriving at ERC on Wednesday and the ceremony is Saturday, so I feel like I would have time to do a trial appointment to check out their makeup skillz before the day of the wedding. ;)

The thing that I'm most anxious about, to be honest, is sweating.  Kind of embarrassing! My dress is not heavy or anything, but like I said - I have A LOT of hair (no seriously A LOT) - and I can get pretty sweaty.  Any brides have tricks for not sweating through the ceremony and photos?  Makeup is super important to me!

I have LOVED this forum and appreciated everyone sharing their own experiences SO MUCH.  I would be an absolute mess if it weren't for this forum.  Happy planning everyone!

Hey Rhiham,

I think all of those colours sound so pretty. The advantage of having a destination wedding is getting to pick brighter colours, it just seems to fit so well!

I haven't heard of 'Las Olas' location for cocktail hour, where/what is that?

I'm definitely considering doing a makeup/hair trial before the wedding. Either that or I thought I'd schedule my appt for early the day of the wedding so I have time to fix it if necessary. But maybe I can just do the trial the day we have the welcome dinner and then I get to look hot on two days??

I don't know about sweating and makeup but I've heard about a sort of sealant spray for makeup and want to look into it. What fabric is your dress?

I think I'm going to bring my own linens as well, although I'm trying to find some that aren't shiny (satin). Thanks for clearing it up. What do you think you'll put in your OOT bags?

Hi Ladies,

Looks like I'll just miss a few of you! I'll be down there 7/10 through 7/18! I emailed Gloria today, as I haven't picked the locations yet and want to get on that! We finally picked out bridesmaids dresses, going with a turquoise for the dresses and oranges and pinks for the flowers and accents. Looks like we're in the 20-30 guest range right now too.

Where do you think you will get ready? I see a lot of you will be doing hair/make up at the spa.I plan to do this also, but I think most of my bridal party plans to do their own. I have a few girls that are amazing at hair, so no help needed. But, I'd still want to get ready with my girls. Anyone have any ideas on that??

Happy Planning,

Trish

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
