Hello Melia bride's my name is Ashley and I'm considering Melia as a top contender for my wedding aiming for April 2014. I'm trying to figure out prices and haven't heard back from the resort yet. I'll probably be having 20 to 30 guests so I'm thinking the Tropical Fairy tale would be my choice. I'm wondering though how much the surcharge is per guest over 24 people and how much it is per hour to extend the ceremony. Are there any additional fees I need to factor in on top of the package? Also is there a room upgrade included and which room is it? I would appreciate any help I've found this forum to be awesome. If any brides have any packages with price breakdowns please email me at [email protected] THANK YOU!!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

I will email you the packages.  If you are concerned about price......I have 50 people coming to my wedding and I found it cheaper to do the basic wedding package and add on what I wanted.  When you look at the packages and break them down in what you get, the prices are pretty crazy.  When I was comparing packages it was something like $800 just for more decorations and champange in your room.  Really?  They do basic decorating for you and I spoke to them and I am brining my own color ribbon to add to what they will already have and they said they wouldn't charge me.  Personally I think the packages are a rip off, but I am trying to keep the costs as low as I can since we are paying for the wedding.  If you are not concerned about money then get what you like since its your day :)  If you have any more questions, let me know!

Thanks for the info Laura!

Thanks for the advice too. Looks like the add on prices are pretty crazy so going with the basic package and adding on sounds more practical. We are also paying for the wedding ourselves. However it looks like Melia pays close attention to detail for the wedding/reception unlike some other resorts I've checked out, so I think its won me over :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
