Hi everyone :)

I'm not much of a forum user but I had some time this weekend and thought I would try to get some feedback. I have booked my wedding at the Azul beach and my final payment is due in a couple of weeks. I have put down deposits but I am nervous everyone is going to wait until last minute and I will lose money! Is anyone else as nervous as I am? My planner is ON IT and has let everyone nicely know the implications of booking outside of my group. I'm sure it will work out but not sure if this is normal to feel so uneasy!!!!

Eek!  That's a terrible feeling Bmont,    I am a destination wedding specialist, and with all my groups I make sure the B/G only put money down for those who are FORSURE going.   So I hope you didn't put down for too many people.    The worst that can happen is you lose deposits on unused seats,  but I know that can be alot of money depending on how many you paid deposits for.

Good luck!  I think the only other thing you can tell your guests is that the reason they have book early is so you can plan your wedding!  This isn't just a holiday, you need to book menu's and know how many people are going to be there.    Hopefully they can understand that and forget about waiting for last minute deals.

I put down deposits for those who told me they would be coming 'for sure' only- things change sometimes when you are actually asked to part with money!!

Good thing is that things have definitely turned around. My TAM (I'm learning the lingo already!) called each one of my guests and I only have 3 rooms left to book! I think that people my nature are just procrastinators :) To be honest, it looks like I will actually need more rooms! Lesson learned that we should always remain calm and trust that everything will work out :)

Oh, I'm so glad that things turned around for you with the bookings.  I was going to say that quite a few of my guests booked last minute (or what seemed like last minute to me since I was trying to plan for everything!).  I think it's hard for people to understand that people like us, who join a DW forum, aren't usually just doing the type of wedding were you show up and everything is done for you.  Some chose DW's for that reason, but some of us like to still do lots of crafts or planning and I think people don't understand that when they book late.

oh, I am definitely not the bride that wants to show up and plan when I get there! I hired luxe destination weddings to help me with the planning. There is no way I would be able to do it on my own. I think the stressful part is over and I am really excited!

Welcome! I'm glad to hear things are working out after all.  Its always a little nerve wracking to put down deposits for other people.  We did the same, and thankfully didn't loose any money, but we had the potential to loose quite a bit.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
