Super Confused regarding TA's!!!! Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi!!!!

I've NEVER used a TA before, I've always booked everything on my own. But I've read from several threads that it takes a load off from the wedding planning process to use one.

So I was wondering if anyone could please recommend a good TA. I'm located out of Miami but I'm open to them being located wherever as long as they're good.

Do they get better rates for the rooms as well??? Do you have to pay anything upfront or they get paid when your guests contact them and they book their flight and room?

Super confused!!

Thank you!!!!

Hello Anyasi08

Congratulations on your engagement!

Don't panic, what you are feeling is totally normal. There are so many companies to choose from and every one has a different policy and can benefit you and your guests in different ways.

The most important thing to keep in mind when you are looking for a travel agent is that you trust them and they are responsive and understand you vision. They need to answer you and your guests when you have questions and keep the communication open from the beginning of the process until well after. You'll be working closely with this person for months, if not years on the most important day of your life, if she/he is great, you will practically be best friends by the time it's all over. :) I don't think it matters whether they are down the street or not. What matters is that they will alleviate all your stress and do their job well!

You have plenty of options and each company will assist you in different ways. Some companies work soley on weddings and are likely to have amazing relationships with wholesalers and onsite vendors in destination. They will be able to negotiate good group pricing and liaise with the resort wedding coordinators to make sure that your vision is brought to fruition. Other companies will sell all types of travel and have a designated wedding or group person.

Make sure you do some research and if you find someone that gives you a good gut feeling- stick with them!

Happy Planning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
