Thanks for your reply. Do you know why we cannot do pics at the ruins? My photographer and I both have it set in our heads that we would do this! :) he was wondering if we would need a permit or something though.

I'm guessing you are taking your own photographer with you All the local photographers will advise and give you other options be it for wedding or Trash the Dress sessions. There are amazing beaches and denotes that they use. Tulum ruins are sacred hence no wedding party photos permitted, I have to say even if they were it would be a headache trying to get photos outwith the tourists visiting the site Even though it covers a large area it is a busy place. Good luck finding s location x

Nope, it's illegal to get pictures taken at the Tulum ruins.  You will be turned away immediately.  If they catch you trying to sneak in, they will confiscate your photographers equipment.

Thank you for letting me know about the ruins. That would have been really embarrassing to show up there only to be turned away! Definitely good info to know. Yep, we are flying our photog in...he will be a paid guest at the resort so I am assuming that he will be ok? I thought I read that somewhere on this forum?

Yeah, I still attempted it for my wedding (it was back when this forum was pretty new so it wasn't well known that you couldn't get in...) and it was embarrassing!

Flying in your photographer will be fine as long as all his/her paperwork is filled out correctly upon entering the country.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but I will mention it here too, you cannot hire a local (Riviera Maya) photographer to photograph your wedding.  They will not allow it.

You can fly in a photographer (honestly, it's cheaper than the hotel photographer and you'll get better and more pictures).  You can also have the photographer stay at a different hotel, however you are then charged a $800 day pass... so that doesn't make much sense.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
