Hi everyone, My name is Jen and I'm recently engaged. My fiance and I have narrowed down our choice to Kauai or Maui and I'd love to hear suggestions for venues. On Kauai, the Plantation Gardens and Hukilau Lanai have been recommended, and on Maui, Gannons. I'd love to hear from recent Kauai / Maui brides on their experiences and their recommendations.

Hi Jen - congrats on your engagement! I would highly recommend getting married somewhere on Kauai - it is such a beautiful island.  My sister was recently married at The Beach House and it was perfect.  Weddings there are held on their lawn which is right on the ocean - they had an arch with chiffon fabric and an orchid lined isle.  We planned the ceremony so the pictures afterward were right around sunset and they turned out absolutely gorgeous!  If you do get married in Kauai, I would stick to the south shore or you will likely run into problems with rain.  The Plantation Gardens would be really beautiful too if you're not set on having a beach wedding.

I moved to Kauai a year ago this month! I have been talking to this nice lady at the Waimea Plantation Cottages about having our wedding there. It helps that I live here, but is hard because my family is in Florida, The only bad thing about the cottages is the beach. It is a black sand beach, but is not recommended to swim in. For a couple of family members, this is a problem. But, they can stay where ever they like. Other than the water, the property is beautiful. We didn't want it at a hotel, even though they are really nice!

Aloha and congrats on your upcoming destination wedding. Hawaii is certainly a beautiful place to have your wedding. I was to a wedding at Paradise Cove and is awesome.
